Chapter 1

Heart's P.O.V
I looked around my room in annoyance " Hey lil sis you ready to go?" Nathaniel asked " No! I can't find my leather jacket " I growled " didn't the maid bring that to get cleaned?" He questioned I walked over and grabbed a bell shaking it. Not long a maid walked in " how my I help you M'lady?" She asked " I want my leather jacket. The one I wear the most with the dull spikes and the broken heart patch on it." I stated crossing my arms she nodded walking out. " god, Bro are you sure this is even going to be fun?" I asked. " eh the acton isn't fun but hey you will be getting a lil pet." He said, tsk pet? There more like slaves from what I've seen. I'm only going because my brother thinks a 'pet' would be good for me. I don't buy it I think he just wants a new exotic pet. But whatever it's a way to spend time together i suppose. " here you go miss." A maid said holding a folded leather jacket. I picked it up and made sure it was the correct jacket. It was indeed so I put it on. " let's go" I said walking out the door Nathaniel followed. We walked to the limo were the  chauffeur opened the door for us. I got in first then my brother last two guards entered sitting away from us. I swear there's always guards around me. Apparently I'm ' daddy's little princess' because I'm the youngest and a girl. Even though Briana is a spoiled brat but that's cuz she's ' mommy's girl' then there's Nathaniel he's taking over the majority of dad's company. I'm getting the rest. Briana is getting none of it for we all know she would ruin the company. Meh I don't care Brianna stays in her house most days anyways. Soon we arrived one of the guards exited first then me and my brother last the guard exited. We walked in where we were lead to two fancy chairs and our own section. The first section is the higher classes then was me and my brother last row was anyone else who badly had enough money to even be here. Despite us being the youngest here we also had the most cash. So if we wanted something we got it. When ever  my family came here they got this whole row apparently. So I heard anyways this was my first time here. We waited till it started  there were quite a few different exotic hybrids but none of them caught my eye. " isn't there a way to just look at what they have available I'm so bored" I asked my brother who nodded. My brother got up and walked to one of the staff. I couldn't hear there conversation. Soon the person came over to me " follow me to the back you can have as much time to browse The stalk. Even the ones that won't be going on stage today." She said with a kind smile. I got up Nathaniel decided to stay sitting there guards followed me and the staff member. The back was horrible, there where cages everywhere and they were tiny. And some had multiple hybrids in them. None of them caught my eye I was getting ready to just leave. When I heard a debate near the end. I walked over " she should just be put down. No one here wants a normal pet" a man said " but if we put her down we would be losing profits. " the lady said. " we're losing money by keeping this thing alive." I could hear the whimpers from the hybrid in the cage. This caught my attention. I walked over pushing the workers out of my way. " hey! Watch I- o-oh! Sorry Miss heart I don't know where my manners are" the man said after realizing who I am. I looked at the hybrids in the cage. She was a normal cat hybrid she had beautiful blond hair bright pastel  blue eyes. But her pupils where heart shaped and a pastel pink. Despite all the dirt I could tell she had freckles. She was thin and frail. I looked over at the workers " unlock the cage" I demanded they looked shocked. " does she catch you eye miss heart?" They asked " I want to look at her so open the cage" I demanded they nodded the man unlocking the cage. He went to grab the hybrid who flinched from his hands and made a fuss struggling to not get grabbed the lady had enough of it. " Let me deal with this" she stated the man who rolled his eyes backing away. " come here kitten" the lady said being patient with the little kitten who slowly exited her cage. I looked at the hybrid " where's her file?" I asked the lady " Jack go get the file " she said to the man who walked away. I reached my hand towards the hybrids head. She flinched away stiffening, I started scratching the base of her ear. She leaned into my touch. The man came back with a thin file. I stopped scratching the hybrid looking at my ha d that was now covered in filth. My guard quickly gave me a wet wipe. I opened the file

I looked at the paper dumbfounded how could they have so little information about her? I rolled my eyes dropping the file to the floor. " how much?" I asked " we will talk to your brother about the price. We will have someone get her ready to be taken home. You can head to your brother or see if anything else catches your interest." The man said before calling over someone to take my new kitten. I browsed over the other pets but none were interesting. The most interesting thing about them was there species. I walked back to my brother who was signing something " so a kitten huh?" He asked I nodded " here I was expecting a wolf or a lion. But a little kitten" he said with a smirk. " well nothing here is to interesting so why don't we go get your kitten and leave. " he asked I nodded we walked to the room they said they would bring her too. It was fairly fancy. Seemed Anyplace a customer typically goes they make fairly high class but everywhere else looks horrible. We stood near the door and waited.Soon my new pet was carelessly tossed in she looked somewhat cleaner. Her cloths were different. She was now in an over sized black dress. She had an ugly collar on. Nathaniel picked her up she didn't fight or really move she looked like she was about to pass out. " what's with her? She didn't behave like that before " I asked " oh they drug the pets to make them easier to transport while owners buy leashes and what not." He explained. I frowned at that " I dislike it " I stated " let's go get some collars and leashes for her " he said putting my sleepy pet down on a seat buckling her up. " so what's her name?" He asked " she doesn't have one" I stated " that's somewhat normal places like that just call them by there species. Unless they had been owned and brought back then they would have what ever there first owner or last owner called them as a name " my big brother explained. Weird. " well we will be at a mall shortly so think about her name so you can get her tag engraved " he said I nodded. Hmm names, names.
I spend the whole drive thinking about names. Once we arrived I unbuckled and walked over to my kitten. I poked her till she woke up. She was still kinda out of it. I unbuckled her she stood up but was a little tipsy, she grabbed onto my arm for support before snapping out of it and letting go. I let out a sigh and grabbed her hand. I had her hold onto my arm again. " now let's go get you what you need kitten" I said out loud she didn't say a word. " sis maybe I should carry her to the shoe store. " my brother said. I looked at her for a moment. Those ass holes didn't give her shoes are you kidding me?! I shook my head and picked her up like a toddler before looking at my brother. " mine " I said sticking my tongue out. He just laughed. We walked over to a shoe store. I put her down on a bench and chose some shoes " try these on" I told her she nodded. But it became obvious that she's never wore shoes before. I shook my head and grabbed them putting them on her. " try walking around in them" I said she nodded took her a moment to gain her balance again " are they comfortable?" I asked, she nodded " alright we will buy them for you then" I said walking over to the counter. We bought then and removed the tags. " now let's go get you a collar." I said she was so quiet I'm not a fan of it. We made it to the hybrid pet store. I looked around most were low quality and ugly " I'm not a fan of any thing here. Pet go pick something you like. We will buy something better later but that old thing will not do." I said my little kitten looked at me cautiously before looking at the selection. None of them were nice. But soon enough my little kitten grabbed a collar it was simple a black fluffy one. She hesitantly handed the collar to me. I nodded I looked around and grabbed the best shampoo and conditioner for hybrids. I also grabbed a leash seeing as some places you must leash you hybrids. Although I'm sure I can get away with not leashing my kitten I'll get one just in case. I grabbed a black one to match the collar. We walked to the cashier. I grabbed a heart shaped tag. " will that be all?" She asked I nodded " what shall I engrave?" She asked " candy on the front Heart Norris on the back, Address ______ and phone number *** *** ****" I told her. With that done Nathaniel payed. I grabbed the collar and removed the one that horrible people put on her. Replacing it with the new black one. " there much better." I stated " Do you like it ?" I asked she timidly nodded. She's so shy we will fix that later. I grabbed her hand and walked over to a restaurant " let's get some lunch" Nathaniel said. "yea that's kinda why I was walking towards the restaurant " I told him. Once we got there the person stopped us " I'm afraid we don't allow pets " I said pointing towards Candy. " excuse me? Do you know who We are?" I demanded the man shook his head. I looked behind us to see my guards giving the man a harsh glair. " How dare you stop the Norris children. If she wants to bring her pet you better let her. Unless you want Us to deal with you. Or worse Jack Norris, There father to deal with you." One of my guards stated " ah...heh follow me to you table " the man said leading us near the back no one else was near us it seemed. But the table only had two chairs " There is 3 of us" I stated " I am terribly sorry madam but we do not want fur on our seats." The man said before leaving. " these people have no respect " I stated sitting down Nathaniel also sat down. Candy was about to sit on the floor when I grabbed her and placed her on my lap. " The ground is not a suitable place for you kitten. " I told her. She looked at me I could see the confusion on her face. I was right there treated like slaves. There technically human so what if they have animal characteristics. Yet there locked in cages and treated worse then normal animals. I hate it but what can I do? At least I can help my little kitten. Not long our waiter came " so what can I get you this evening?" He asked " I'll have a BLT and a sprite " Nathaniel said next the waiter turned to me " I'll have spaghetti and a Pepsi. My little kitten will have salmon and milk." I told him he wrote everything down before leaving. " so we're will she be staying till you have a room made?" " hmmm oh! What about the sleepover room it has plenty of room and I could stay there too till her room is done. " I told him he nodded A waiter came over and placed Nathaniels food down the man looked over at me with confusion. " and where do I place the other dishes?" He asked I rolled my eyes and taped the table to my left  " the spaghetti " then I taped to the right of me " the salmon " I told him. He placed the food down then " I am terribly sorry the waiter before me was a new employee he should have given you drinks to you immediately after ordering." The waiter said apologetically. We merely nodded with that said he left as we started eating. Candy started eating with her hands witch caused me and Nathaniel to stop eating. " wipe " and with that I was handed a wet wipe. I grabbed her hands stopping her from moving them as I wiped them clean. I readjusted her so she was side ways instead of her back being to my chest. I picked up a fork grabbing some salmon with it. Candy looked at me but I couldn't tell what she was thinking or feeling she seemed confused maybe nervous? I brought the fork up to her mouth " open up kitten " I said witch she did after that I took a bite of my own food. That's how the meal went. Me and Nathaniel talked while we ate. Candy seemed happy she's slightly swinging her feet. While she chews her food she has a smile. Makes me think of a little kid kinda. It was cute once we finished Nathaniel payed and we left. Now that I think about it he's payed everything today. I mean I don't mind but I am perfectly capable of paying for my own stuff no matter the price. " alright let's get you a few outfits. Once your room is done we will get you a lot!" I told her with a grin. She nodded, now that I think about it she hasn't spoken since I met her.... is she mute? But something that important would have been in the file! Right??? We made it to a clothing store. This is the hard part my little kitten ether doesn't talk or can't and I don't know her fashion style! I suppose I could buy a few outfits in a variety of style. Yea that's what we will do. We went to quiet a few store everything I showed Candy when I asked if she liked it she would always nod with the same smile. I don't understand it honestly. I wonder if they forced her to be the way she is. It wouldn't surprise me at this point. Once we got back to the car I waited till candy fell asleep again." Do they train them at that place?" I asked " train? Of corse they do there best To make the prefect pets " Nathaniel stated " and what do they deem the prefect pet?" I asked he thought for a moment " a quiet obedient pet I suppose that doesn't make a fuss about anything " he said I let out a huff before going on my phone. Once I figure out her style I can make the perfect room. " alright once we get to your house ima have to head back to my estate sis. I gotta go back to college soon " Nathaniel said I nodded " okay bro, this is your last year right?"  " yup "
The rest of the ride was uneventful. Once we got back to my house I picked up candy, bridle style. " Text you later " Nathaniel said walking over to his car where his chauffeur was waiting patiently. I walked into my mansion were quite a few of my maids were waiting to great me. " Welcome home miss Heat!" They said in unison. " yes it's good to be back could a few of you go get the bags from the car and bring them to the sleepover room" I said they nodded four walked outside while the rest left to do there job. I walked to the sleep over room. I placed candy down under the covers. I'll let her sleep I can only imagine how horrible sleeping in the place was.
