August threw her head back laughing as her and Ricky reached Ashlyn's house, pushing him slightly. "I can't believe you still remember that."
"Of course I do!" Ricky laughed, raising an eyebrow. "We were so cold after jumping in that pool in the middle of the night I gave you my sweater. I'm pretty sure you still have it."
August shrugged, suddenly feeling slightly bashful as she opened the door. "Yeah, probably. I can search for it if you want it back."
"Search for what?"
August turned to look forward, met with Nini's curious look as she glanced between August and Ricky. Feeling slightly guilty, August took a step away and putting some distance between herself and Ricky. "Oh, nothing, just . . . one of Ric's sweaters."
"Oh." Nini smiled awkwardly, shifting her weight as she climbed down the stairs.
Noting the tense air between the trio, Ricky added "So Nini, your parents busy?"
"Yeah, my moms are watching a dog show and Kourtney is out of town with her grandma so I thought I'd check in with my buddies." Nini said, doing some finger guns before dropping her arms to her sides.
"Buddies, yeah." August repeated, biting on her bottom lip. "So, I'm just gonna go and, uhm, leave you two alone!"
Ricky watched her leave with a small frown, unaware of Nini's stare on him, rubbing her nervous palms on her dress. August approached her sister, dropping next to her on the couch with a sigh. Gina sipped her coke before raising an eyebrow. "What was that all about?"
August glanced back at Nini and Ricky, who stood near the stairs making small talk. "I don't know, I . . . I feel bad for getting in between them again."
