"AND HERE we have our radioactive spider unit ." mrs.cheng, our oscorp tour guide, explained to the class.

carrying my black canon powershot sx530 in my left hand, i took some shots of the building for midtown's newspaper - with permission of course.

some photos were better than others due to flash shoving my shoulder earlier causing the camera focus to go crazy and the pictures to come out lopsided.

i huffed to myself as i pushed the bridge of my chestnut colored glasses up my nose, shaking my head.

"don't let them get to you liv, flash is just being a pain the ass - and the photos look amazing by the way." nancy assured me, as she softly patted my shoulder with her hand.

"thanks nancy." i smiled back, my eyes glancing from her to the boy behind her.

peter parker, the cutest nerd at midtown high. smart guy, was on top of all his classes, and tied with me for first place in academics. we're both in academic decathlon and marching band together, and always won me over with his trumpet playing.

not too many girls liked him though, and i honestly never understood why. he always cared for others and his shyness made him even cuter. his stutter was adorable and his glasses fit his complexion perfectly.

i overheard his conversation with his best friend ned in the corner - something about building a lego death star later on.

my staring didn't last for long though because he turned his head to me and our eyes connected. he gave me a tight lipped smile and waved at me.

blushing, i gave him a smile and waved back, moving my eyes someplace else because of how easily flustered i got.

i focused myself back to the field trip, paying attention to what betty brant was saying.

"miss i think there's one missing from here." she explained, inspecting the box.

"i beg your pardon?" mrs.cheng said, walking towards betty confused.

"you said there are fifteen spiders, but i only see fourteen here." betty explained, furrowing her eyebrows at the empty compartment.

"hm, i guess researchers happen to be working on that one right now." cheng clarified, before continuing on with explaining what each spider could do and how it differed from normal spiders.

"i was worried she was gonna tell us it was missing and roaming around this building - imagine getting bit by a spider or having it crawl on your skin? nasty as hell." nancy whispered to me, her fear of spiders boldly showing today as she bit her nails and the bits of skin around it, something she does when she's nervous.
