Chapter 3-Introducing 'Mr. Lonely'

'Jade,whose that dark-haired guy who plays for our soccer team?'

'Scarl,there are so many dark-haired players who play for the FHS Soccer Team.How the hell can I answer that question!!Can't you elaborate??'

Jade asks as they walk towards the girl's dorm after their last class for the day is over.

'Okay,I get your point. He has jet-black, short-spiky hair.'

Scarl waits for Jade to reply but the latter, instead of answering, just abruptly stops walking.

'What?? '

Scarl asks Jade,coming to a stop just besides her,raising her eyebrows in confusion.

' I've never seen you being so interested in a guy. I mean till now you've totally been the not-interested-in-guys-at-all   girl. '

Scarlett tries to protest but Jade not letting her interrupt, continues,' The eagerness in your voice just doesn't sound that of curiosity. And the way you described his hair, it sounded like it meant the best piece of art in the entire  world to you. It's definitely something more than curiosity .And all information you have about the first guy I've seen you so interested in, is his hair-colour and hair-style, I mean just hair!!That's a bit weird,isnt it?
I guess,I wanna know the entire episode, Scarl!  '

Seeing that there is no way out of this, Scarlett starts recounting the after-lunch, before-math-class event.

' Fine!

After lunch, as I was walking towards the lecture tower,I walked past the soccer team's changing room and he dashed into me. '

Scarlett starts walking towards the girl' s dorm again. Walking,or rather exercising, always helps her in times when she ends up having to do something she doesn't want to.Jade follows,listening carefully to every word the other girl spoke as if those words were the secret code to a hundred and ninety nine years of certified healthy life.

'And by the time I got up from the ground, he had already turned his head and was going away, without an apology. So, you see, I only got to see his hair.I described his hair like that,I mean patiently and giving every single detail I could remember, so that you could tell me who the heck he was,not because of any other reason.'

Scarlett, of course, skipped the part where she was supposed to say that the moment they collided, she felt strange electric currents running down her entire body, that had nothing to do with the pain caused because of the collision.

' You must understand Jade, I'm not interested in him at all, in that way I mean. As you've already pointed out, I'm still the girl who at her present stage, can only afford to have a friendship or sister-brother relationship with any guy on this bloody earth. I'm not ready for a crush or boyfriend or something alike, at present, my plate's already too full. I was just being curious, that's it, actually very curious because no guy has ever bumped into me and left without an apology. Firstly, it's very rude, and secondly,guys usually don't miss a chance to talk to me, you know that I'm not bragging Jade but that's what usually happens. So I' m just very surprised by his reaction. That's it!!. '

By the time Scarlett finishes her short defensive speech,they reach the dorm gate but don't move in further.
'Oh!
You maybe right ,Scarl.
Something of that sort has happened to you for the first time,so I've never seen such curiosity for a guy in you before,and maybe that's why I felt as if you were interested in that guy.But,that doesn't mean you can expect an apology from me,right?'
Jade asks,now having started to laugh.
'No,of course not!!I'm not that dumb to not realise in all these years that we've been together,that you're definitely not a person whom friends can expect apologies from,especially for trivial matters.'
Scarlett answers ,joining in Jade in the 'laugh your head off' session, relieved that Jade didn't press much on the "my plate' s already too full" remark.
'So,at least you agree it's a trivial matter!!' Jade says once they both had stopped laughing like maniacs.
Jade's an amazing person and simply an awesome friend,but not the kind of person whom you can expect to give a damn about formalities,especially with friends .

'Jade,I guess we should just get to our rooms now,it's already quite late.'
Scarlett says ,and without another word they start walking towards their rooms.
However,the moment they were about to part ways to get to their respective rooms,Jade opens her mouth out of which some quick words are thrown out.

'Good night Scarl,and I'm not sure who the hell that guy is.We can have a discussion tomorrow when everyone's there at lunch and find out!That will be quite interesting!!'
And in the next minute Scarlett is back at her room,lying on her bed without changing and completely exhausted,trying to convince herself that whatever she said to Jade was what she really felt.

'What happened Scarl??'
Alison asks Scarl,as they both take their seats for their shared
'Environmental studies' immediately-after-the-lunch class,the next day.
'Al,that's the guy whom Jade told all of you about at lunch.'
Scarlett answers moving her eyeballs to look at a guy with jet-black,short-spiky hair,the most beautiful almond-shaped deep-brown eyes and a muscular frame,more muscular than that of an average soccer player .The guy's rocking  a navy-blue T-shirt paired with leather pants and sports -shoes ,looking totally and undeniably hot,even to a girl like Scarlett.
But,hang on!
He's sitting at the last-corner-bench all-alone.
'Holy crap!!!That's the guy??'
'I've already answered that one ,Al!!'
Scarlett says,clearly irritated as she moves her eyeballs back to look at Alison's.

' Alright, I know him.
He's James Coxe,Scarl,the Soccer Team Captain and also the 'Mr. Lonely'.
