Chapter 1

Bella's pov.

It's been a week since the Cullens came back, since Edward came back. I've noticed the changes in the way they act. They're subtle but they're definitely there. The changes are so subtle but if you look closely or you pay attention you can see them. Like the way Alice isn't attached to Jasper's side anymore and keeps her distance. And how Jasper is back to being extremely quiet and looking like he's in pain. The way Rosalie is leaning more towards Jasper instead of Alice. The way the family is more divided. The way Emmett walks on egg shells around Jasper instead of getting on his nerves and wrestling with him. Jasper's more reserved then ever. Edward looks like he doesn't know what to do when he's around Jasper. The look he gets on his face when he's near Jasper is one of worry and pain. Carlisle and Esme are always going on walks at random times, most likely to talk. Alice looks pained and guilty when she sees and is around Jasper. You wouldn't notice these subtle changes unless you really knew them and were around them all the time. It's actually starting to worry me. I haven't been able to get them to tell me what's going on. Alice and Jasper won't talk about it. Rosalie still doesn't trust or like me so she's been refusing to tell me. Emmett just changes the subject and looks uncomfortable and conflicted when asked about it. Carlisle and Esme just keep telling me that Alice will tell me when she's ready and to give them time. And Edward just avoids talking about it. I'm starting to worry that they're going to leave again or that their family is falling apart because of me. This is all I've been able to think about for the past week. I didn't know the good news that was headed my way in the next few hours would cause more tension and awkwardness in their family but also bring a a sense of hope to them.
