Transmission

Prologue

You finally arrived on Earth, its a wasteland, no lifeforms, no nature, no structures. Its as if something horrible has happened to this place, but what? As you climb over the ruble of what once use to a building of the large and vast city you hear a static like sound in the distance. Its far from your location, but you know it well.

For years you've been searching for lost footage of this planet, many planets have you crossed to find them all. The one you haven't found was what started all of this. No matter what you saw in those lost transmission tapes--it never did tell you the answer you were looking for. You slide down the rusted parts of an old large scale building making your way down towards the broken street below.

You can feel the ground breaking under your feet, its like as if they Earth was hallowed out. Could that be it? Could that be the cause for all of this destruction? You carefully make your way towards a strange house made of metal and electrons along with alien tech your all too familiar with. You scan the yard--looking at what it held underground. Pipes stretched beyond the home's jurisdiction, into the rock and the various of minerals within.

Stepping around and over the broken Earth you reached the entrance of the house. You rub your eyes feeling dust strike them. Your lungs are filled with toxins just from breathing in the air. You swallow down a lump in your throat as you continued to embark into the living room. The couch was covered in slime, torn to shreds. The TV was broken in two--a swift and clean cut. One touch could cut you.

Down on the floor laid a poor laptop, barely intact. This was what was emitting that sound you heard earlier. You sat in the floor holding the laptop in your hands as you whipped out your tools from your trusty metal container. You had that thing for years, you're amazed it hasn't been busted yet. Taking out new wires and several pliers you fix the computer. At least to the point its somewhat operation. You set it on the floor cycling through the files until you come across one labeled 'Futile Attempt 1.'

"This is it." You say with a serious look on your face. "I will finally be able to sync them all together once and for all. All these years endlessly searching will finally pay off." You tell yourself as you play the video.

On the screen are two faces you know well, their names you knew from the start. The photoaged is jagged, glitched, and strangely colored. A green alien sat on the couch lazily as a black haired tall human messed with the camera--constantly readjusting over and over again. "Did you get it, Dib?" The alien asks in his poorly made human disguise. "No...not yet." The other replied as he continues to fiddle with the camera until the picture was finally clear.

Yes, this is it, this was their first transmission. The first transmission of the cosmic duo that shattered the universe. This was Zim and Dib.

A/N: Hey everyone, I don't normally do the A/Ns, but this is just a quick notice. This is the only time the story will give you a self insert. This is just used to drive the story into the actual story itself. Very rarely will you be put into the story via self insert. After this you will be seeing things from Zim's and Dib's point of view in 3rd person.
