Serenity , a white furred wolf with black tips on her ears/tail walked into the Zootopia bakery, it was her first day of work and she had already met the boss. The boss of the bakery was named Mr. Stellar Sugar he was an old zebra but cared for his employees well enough. "Serenity, good to have you here" she heard him say and they shook paw to hoof "glad to be here"she said "Lucas!" Mr. Sugar called out a silver fox appeared and Serenity's eyes widened as she noticed the scar on his face. It was a long jagged scar that went diagonally from his upper left eyebrow to the middle of his right cheek, Lucas noticed her staring and he averted his gaze to look at the floor his ears lowered once Serenity got out of her shock she spoke "I'm so sorry" she apologized he looked at her and smiled, his eyebrows were furrowed but he held out his paw to her "Serenity" she replied shaking his paw. Lucas gestured towards Mr. Sugar and he nodded "*ahem* he's mute, dear" he told her "oh, right" she whispered. Lucas gave her an apron and Serenity put in on "ok, so your going to be doing the dishes, don't worry every baker starts out like this" Mr Sugar reassured her and she nodded then went to work. Mr. Sugar pulled Lucas to the side "Lucas, give her a chance" he told him. Lucas moved his head to the side and a low growl rumbled in his throat but then he sighed "ok?" Mr. Sugar asked and Lucas nodded then went back to the work, he took his pie out of the oven and set it down before he sliced it into 8 equal pieces a male chipmunk appeared and pointed at the pie "2 slices please" he said before handing Lucas some money. Lucas handed the chipmunk his 2 pieces of pie and put the money in the cashier, he waited for any other customers to arrive and then he took his break eating some cooked fish. Lucas flinched when he felt someone tap his shoulder he turned around his pupils turning to slits and his tail fluffed up his ears rose up when he realized that it was just Serenity he relaxed a bit but his hackles were still raised he sat back down and munched on his fish his back towards her "I wanted to apologize for earlier, it was rude of me" he heard her say "I'm sorry about my reaction when I saw your scar" she said he turned around giving her a paper the word 'truce?' was written on it with a question mark and she nodded "truce" she said making Lucas grin, after lunch they went back to work. The day ended at 10:00 and Serenity headed home she waved bye to Lucas and went to her house she lived alone but kept in contact with her sister, her sister was the only family she ever knew and she worked as a nurse, her phone rang and she picked it up opening the door to her home and going inside. "Hey, how was your first day at your new job?" her sister's voice was heard through the phone "it was alright, Eva" Serenity replied she put her purse on her nightstand and changed into a purple shirt and blue shorts, she laid down on her bed  "I met my boss Mr. Sugar he's a zebra by the way and one of the employees Lucas he's a mute silver fox with a scar on his face and I did the dishes it's going to take a while until I'll be a real baker but I'm satisfied where I am now" "what about that fox Lucas, what does he do?" Eva asked her "he's a baker and works the cashier he makes pies" Serenity told her "he seems like a nice mammal" Eva commented "he is but he seemed to not like me when we first met but then again I wouldn't blame him I mean I was shocked when I saw his scar but I apologized during our lunch break he offered a truce and I accepted so I think we're on good terms" Serenity explained "I shouldn't have judged him because of his appearance or because he's a fox, that was stupid of me" "well your learning so that's what matters" Eva told her "yeah, your right, anyways how'd your day go?" she asked her she got worried when she heard her sigh "One of the patients under my care died today, it was a young doe, I informed the parents and they yelled at me, they took her body and prepared a funeral" Eva's voice was shaky and Serenity sat up "I know that it's part of the job to deal with death but I didn't expect it to hurt so much"she stopped talking after that. "Eva, you're doing a great job and your an amazing nurse" she told her sister and Eva sighed "I just felt like letting it out, to maybe make it hurt less" she says and Serenity nodded "well does it hurt less?" She asked her "yeah" Eva said "anyways I should let you go we both have work tomorrow so..." "you're right" Serenity said "love ya" "love ya too sis" Eva replied back then she hanged up, Serenity charged her phone and set an alarm for 6:00 am then set it on her nightstand she wrapped the blanket around her and fell asleep. Serenity was cleaning dishes and wiping tables for 5 months before she leveled up her rank, she began to know Lucas a little better it was a small bakery so they only needed 2 employees she worked half time while Lucas worked full time. Mr. Sugar would work at the cashier sometimes which Lucas was grateful for, that was when that awful day happened and everything changed. Serenity had been working the register that day and was just about to give the customer their cake when shots were fired and the window was shattered. "GET DOWN!!" Mr. Sugar yelled, Serenity used a pan as a shield and knocked over a table so that their customers could use it for protection from the bullets. Serenity noticed a bullet on the floor she grabbed and broke it spilling a purple liquid 'Nighthowler!!' She realized this but noticed Lucas was trying to help the customers escape by rolling the table near the counter and over the back exit they thanked him before running off, the bullets were still being fired and Serenity pushed Lucas out of the way before he was hit she felt a sharp pain on her shoulder and screamed. Serenity pushed Lucas away preventing him from helping her she could hardly see him she was on all fours and was staring at her paws. She could hear her rapid heartbeat and increased breath her claws were unsheathed and she could see a puddle of her own drool she clenched the sides of her head and tried to fight her instincts but it was impossible, she let out a low growl as her pupils became dilated and her breathing was shallow, her ears were erect and her fur bristled. Mr. Sugar called the ZPD and they said that they would arrive in 5 minutes he tried to approach the she-wolf which seemed to frighten Serenity as her ears flattened themselves against her head and her tail was tucked in between her legs, he kept himself away from her when Lucas appeared. Lucas looked at Serenity he remained eye contact with her and backed away making himself look larger she didn't move that's when he decided to get closer, he took steps towards her and she growled softly he let her smell him and grinned nervously when she let out a happy bark 'of course, she sees me as part of her pack' the realization hit him like a brick she was wagging her tail and he pat the top of her head. Lucas had to remind himself that she was a wild animal right now and that she would probably be embarrassed when she found out later. That's when the ZPD arrived and Serenity grabbed Lucas holding him close to her an arm around his stomach as well as her other arm around his shoulder and her tail wrapped around his legs her head resting on his shoulder he felt uncomfortable and tried to pull himself away but when her grip tightened against him he thought against it, she growled at the cops, one of them pulled out a tranquilizer gun and aimed it at her they approached her carefully and Lucas trembled 'I'm sorry Serenity, you'll hate me for this' he thought before he bit her arm. Serenity growled and loosened her grip and Lucas took the chance to run but she chased after him, pinning him down he looked at her eyes and she bared her teeth at him then suddenly she collapsed, and he saw a tranquilizer dart in her back "Lucas, they'll help her" Mr. Sugar said he nodded but held her close to him he carried her onto the back of the ambulance and went to the hospital where they were at. Serenity's sister worked at a different district but she rushed over when the officials informed her that her sister was in the hospital due to a night howler injection on her shoulder. Lucas was pacing anxiously as he waited for the news on Serenity that's when Serenity's sister appeared, she had black fur and white paws/tail, her eyes were amber "my sister's name is Serenity, can you tell me where she is?" She asked the nurse frantically "she was just checked in but you're going to have to wait until she's awake, nurse Eva" the nurse told her Eva frowned but nodded and sat down she watched as Lucas paced in circles "are you Lucas?" She asked him which made him stop, ears perked up and looking at her before nodding. "Serenity told me about you" Eva said he sat down next to her "she told me you're mute, that correct?" he nodded slowly his head lowered before he past her a piece of paper

     'Shots were fired and Serenity knocked over a table so that the customers could use it as a shield against the bullets. I helped them escape through the back exit, but she pushed me out of the way and got shot in the shoulder with a bullet that was filled with night howler liquid. The night howler took control and she acted like a true wild animal'

Eva stopped reading and Lucas handed her another paper.

'Mr. Sugar, our boss called the ZPD and I kept eye contact with Serenity but she didn't move. That's when I approached her very carefully and let her sniff me ( I know how stupid and wrong that sounds but let me finish) she relaxed and was wagging her tail almost as if she wasn't a threat at all. That's when the ZPD arrived and Serenity grabbed me, she was holding me close to her, I tried to pull myself away since I was uncomfortable but she didn't let me. One of the cops was about to tranquilize her but she growled at them I bit her arm which surprised her, giving me the chance to run and she chased after me. She pinned me down and bared her teeth at me before collapsing and I carried her onto the ambulance van, that's what happened and in all honesty I just want her to be ok'

Eva sighed. "Thanks for helping her, Lucas while it's strange to see a wolf act so happy around some mammal that isn't a wolf it's not uncommon, she saw you as a part of her pack and as part of the pack she wanted to protect you from those that she saw as a threat" she explained and Lucas thought about this. 'I guess that makes sense but it would also give reason as to why she didn't attack me' he pondered to himself. A nurse approached them and led them to a room they saw Serenity restrained and asleep, they were quiet but sat down separately on opposite sides of her bed. Serenity woke up and sat up slowly, her sister was holding her paw while Lucas was asleep on a chair, she smiled to herself and Eva woke up. Eva woke up Lucas and explained what had happened to Serenity from what Lucas told her. Eva took Serenity out of the hospital that night and Lucas went back to the bakery to help Mr. Sugar clean up. "Lucas, how's Serenity?" Mr. Sugar asked to which he gave him a thumbs up, they got to work on fixing the tables and replacing the windows at the end of it, the bakery seemed as good as new. When Serenity was physically back to work Lucas felt scared, he grabbed her paw and pulled her aside during their lunch break and gave her a paper "what, why're you sorry, Lucas?" She asked and he pointed at her arm "wait you were the one who bit me?" She asked and he nodded softly. "You don't have to feel bad, besides if it weren't for you the cops wouldn't have been able to tranquilize me" she reassured him and he turned his head to the side to look at the floor. "I know you don't like to be touched, but do you need a hug?" Serenity asked him spreading her arms wide, his ears perked up and he smiled. Lucas slowly wrapped her arms around Serenity's waist hugging her and was immediately enveloped with her white fur, he felt her rest her head on top of his own and smiled happily, he began to relax and found himself making a purring like noise "Serenity, could you-" Mr. Sugar stopped himself and looked at the pair before smiling "aw, come on, bring it in" he said before they enveloped in a group hug "you two are good mammals" he told them and they smiled at him "now come on" Mr. Sugar told them letting them go "we got work to do" he said so they got straight to work. Their was no more night howler attacks but Serenity did feel strange, she found herself sheathing and unsheathing her claws, it was strange, she didn't remember anything of the night howler attack other then the fact that she felt terrified and violent when under the serums affect. Serenity scoffed and thought nothing of it, she gave a blueberry pie to one of the customers and they paid her, she kept it in the cashier and sighed.
