A bright light awakes me. My eyes slowly open, trying to adjust to the light. My body feels stiff, like i've been lying down for days, maybe weeks. When my eyes finally adjust to the lighting, I adjust myself in a bed I think is my own.
I hear ruffles of the sheet move when I adjust myself. What. My comforters never made a noise when I move in them. I thought to myself. That's when I realize I am not in my own bed.
I'm in a hospital bed.
I look down at my arms, I see the wires hooked up to my body, a cast on my leg, my arm. My head is pounding in pain. "What happened?" I don't even know if anybody is in the room with me, I just needed to hear my own voice. To make sure all of this is real.
"You were in an accident." A familiar voice says. My eyes go wide. There's somebody in here. I try to shift my body to where I heard the voice come from. I moved to fast, my
head is dizzy, my sight is foggy now.I see a hint of red hair. I don't know anybody with red hair, who is this stranger? I put my hands on my head, rubbing circles on my temples trying to stop the pain.
"Who are you?" I say, still rubbing my temples. I hear foot steps coming near my bed. "I'm the one who found you." He's near me now. His voice. Something about his voice makes me feel like I know him. He makes me feel comfortable around him.
"Do I know you?" I open my eyes slowly, I don't want my sight to go foggy again. "No." His voice is flat, no emotion came from that no.
When my eyes finally open, they begin to adjust to the lighting. I groan in the pain, of the brightness shining on my eyes. "Are you okay?" He places his hand on my shoulder. His hand is cold, like ice. "Yeah, I'm fine." My eyes finally adjust to the lightly. I look down at the floor, looking at this stranger from the bottom up.
This strangers legs are long, like he is six feet. "Are you done staring at my body." He says coldly. My eyes go straight to his face, my jaw drops. I close it real quick, and say "Sorry,"
He nods his head, and tells me that it's fine. It's quite in the room, awkward silence. "So," He says breaking the silence.
"I know you know who I am." He pulls a chair close to my bed. My heart is pounding, it feels like it's going to come out of my chest. "Yes I do." I tell him calmly.
"It's fine. I know you're freaking out on the inside." I let a sigh of relief out. At least I don't have to pretend that all of this is normal. "How are you?" I couldn't help, but smile, and look up at him when I asked him.
He laughs a little. "I'm fine. How are you?" I look down at my leg, and arm, and look back at him. "Really." I chuckle at him. "Sorry," He laughs lightly. I can tell this is also awkward for him as much as it is for me. "Can I sign it?" He asks. "My cast?" I look at him with a smile.
"Well what else loser." He pulls a sharpie out, and starts to write on my cast.
Get well, and i'm so glad that I saved you, and your friend from that accident. Yours truly Michael Clifford.
I smile, as I read his comment on my cast. He points at my arm, and I nod letting him sign my arm.
We barely know each other, but I already know that you're a fucking loser just like Luke. Again, yours truly Michael Clifford.
"Hey, Luke is not a loser. I'm more of the loser than him." I chuckle at him, and smile. "Whatever floats your boat...uh, what's your name?" He asks.
"Marie, my name is Marie." He smiles at me. God I love it when he smiles like that.
"Aren't you suppose to be on tour?" I ask him. "We're post phoning it," He pulls his phone out of his front pocket.
