Adelaide, or as she was more commonly known, Harriet, was having a boring day being only five years old, this was challenging in and of itself. (I should know my sister is always busy and is rarely bored), but her 'relatives' had locked her in her cupboard again, and for what? Not being able to catch a pot of boiling water that petunia had dropped from inside the kitchen. Adelaide had been in the living room so there was no way she could have caught it without exposing her secret.
To everyone outside of the Dursley household Adelaide was a saint and rightfully so as she was a celestial, all the children around the block adored her and their parents thought she was perfect and often commended petunia on her amazing parenting of young 'Harriet' everyone she ever met loved her, well not everyone her relatives sure didn't, to her relatives, she was a curse and they told her that often when referring to her and they cursed her for being a stain on their perfect lives. They would go on and on about how she was too perfect, and they would find something one day that they could shame her with, and often they wished they could find something to get one over her. And so, when she never did much of anything wrong, they would beat her for anything they deemed wrong like when she didn't make enough bacon for Vernon even though they told her to only cook five strips for each of them.
To Vernon and Petunia Dursley she wasn't human as she was too good, they believed that it was a ruse to lure people into a false sense of security, it is often said that a celestial in its true form is a ghastly creature but when taking a mortal form, they are generally very gorgeous and graceful people or when taking the form of and animal, those animals were always very pretty and very nice creatures. So, Adelaide was quiet a beautiful child and very graceful, talking very elegantly, once Mrs. Number 2 had commented to Petunia that she could make a lot of money from dance competitions and gymnastic competitions so Petunia was thinking of getting Adelaide started in dance and gymnastics so she could win competitions for her, and Mrs. Number six commented that Adelaide's voice sounded so lovely that surely, she would become very good at singing competitions as well as other arts such as acting or fencing or even musical instruments so the Dursleys thinking they would make a load of money made her go and do all these things to get them more money in the future, so at the age of four she was made to do ballet as well as singing classes, gymnastics, violin, piano, and made her swear to be in all of the school plays, alongside all of the chores she was made to do at home left Adelaide feeling a lot more tired, well at leased she looked tired Adelaide didn't get tired Celestials don't need to sleep. And as well as school starts, she made to look very tired at home. (I will make the next chapter about Adelaide's competitions and daily life, Maybe some one-shots later in the book.)
Adelaide, being so perfect, infuriated petunia to no end, how could a small girl be better than her, and for Vernon, he hated her for many different reasons none of which made any sense to Adelaide, he hated her because she never made many mistakes and was flawless and so Vernon believed she was a demon which is what he called her on many occasions, it never bothered Adelaide much very much, Vernon also hated her for succeeding at anything she ever did or put her mind to and so if she ever did anything wrong she was severely punished for it since petunia would only punish her for doing things wrong since her mother had raised her that way to punish the bad and reward the good well petunia would never reward Adelaide for anything but she only punished her for bad behavior and mistakes. But when Petunia wasn't around Vernon made a habit out of beating her for whatever he thought she deserved, so whenever petunia wasn't in the house, he would beat poor Adelaide, but only where no one would be able to see since he didn't want to get rid of her since the money that Adelaide would make during competitions would be used to get more expensive things for his family.
And finally, Dudley, she did not know what to make of him, he was in Adelaide's mind misguided and if she worked hard enough then he could be a good person, so whenever Vernon and Petunia were busy, she would talk to Dudley and guide him to be a better person, after all, she had nothing to lose, and after a while, she started to enjoy Dudley's company, it felt nice to be able to hug someone, to him she was the sibling he always wanted, and she felt more like a mother than his own mother, so Dudley quite liked spending time with her and on a whim, Adelaide decided she would make him a celestial as well so maybe she wouldn't be so lonely when she went back to her job. She was going to be making him her real brother so that neither of them would be lonely again.
