Typically, if the Japan Swim Team wanted to go somewhere, they'd have Gou drive. However she was pretty tired and Nagisa decided to give her a break.

Needless to say, what happened definitely wasn't a break for anyone else.

Nagisa as it turns out is a horrible driver. He loves to speed, basically giving Rei a heart attack. He sat in the middle with Gou, who was asleep against the window. Rei was yelling, so it was suprising she could have gotten any rest.

"Nagisa give me the wheel! You're gonna kill us! Why does nobody else see this as a problem? Cmon Makoto, even you?"

The green eyed boy in the passenger seat had unbluckled to hold Rei back from grabbing the wheel. He wasn't fond of the way the other drove either, but there was no stopping it at this point. Nagisa started to laugh, enjoying weaving through the cars like a mad man.

"Lighten up Rei-chan! We're almost there anyway."

While that scene unfolded, the back row was dead silent. Haru looked out his window, as did Rin. Haru tried not to think about his irritation at the other, but it was hard. How was he going to win the relay if they didn't know Rin would be there? Of course this was a silly concern, but he didn't see it that way.

Rin on the other hand was still confused about the whole situation. He thought him swimming for Australia would be a good suprise, but clearly it wasn't. He didn't even want to come today, but Gou said it would be good for him. Yeah, like he knew what that meant.

Once they got to their destination, Nagisa slammed on the breaks, followed by a loud, "We're here!"

In the passenger seat, Makoto threw his arm across Nagisa to make sure he didn't go flying from the sudden stop. Rei's glasses flew, making him start to yell. Gou woke up and began to yell as well, mad at the sudden stop. Well, at least her yelling meant she got some rest.

And in the back, once again, the atmosphere was calmer. Rin simply put his arm on the seat in front of him to hold steady, which worked well. Miraculously, Haru didn't even move. Barely noticed either. He just kept the same distant stare.

They all got out, warm sand hitting their feet. Rei was showing Nagisa his prescription sun glasses, which somehow amazed the other. Rei enjoyed the attention as he smirked, trying the glasses on for the other.

Makoto tried to talk with a grumpy Haru, which clearly wasn't working. He didn't mind though, just happy to be around the other. After Rin and Gou stopped looking at a paper she had, she addressed the whole group.

"Welcome to the sunny beaches of Japan! As you know, all our events start tomorrow, so what better way to train then with some open water swimming! Now here's the plan, we are gonna- Haru?"

Already stripped of all but his suit, Haru started to head for the water. It should've been expected, which it was only by Makoto. He held the other by the wrist, signalling Gou to continue.

"Uh.. well anyway, you guys have a 2 mile swim planned! After that, I'll have food back at the beach for you guys. Then feel free to enjoy the rest of the day! Makoto, you can let him go now.."

The taller boy released his grip, which allowed Haru to immediately head to the water. Makoto smiled a bit, shaking his head. He was almost knocked off his feet as Nagisa ran past, Rei scrambling to keep up. Nagisa jumped straight into the water, excited to be there. Rei set his glasses in the sand and carefully went in after the other two.

Back on the sand, Gou, Rin, and Makoto all laughed among themselves. They started to walk toward the shore, Makoto handing the discarded glasses to Gou.

"Guess I should go catch up huh? I'll see you soon I guess."

He gave a slightly nervous laugh and wave, heading toward the water. He didn't really want to go in, but he did. He wanted to be at his best tomorrow, and Gou was their official coach. He did as she said and started swimming.

Gou turned to her brother, hitting him with her stack of papers. He ducked away, slightly annoyed. She put a hand on her hip and used the other to point at the water, clearly signalling him to get a move on.

The swim was pretty peaceful and quiet. Besides Nagisa splashing the others, it was pure training. They made it to their half way point, which was a small island. Haru got there first, then Rin. Following was Nagisa, Makoto, then Rei. It wasn't really a race, but Rin was still upset he hadn't fully caught up. He made this known, giving a small grin to Haru.

"You know, if we started at the same time I'd definitely win."

Haru raised an eyebrow, eager to accept the challenge. He put his goggles on, standing up after barely any break. Makoto saw what was happening as the two boys got into start positions.

"Guys! It's full mile back, you can't possibly be serious!"

Nagisa hopped back in the water with them, wanting to race too. He was sure he'd lose, but he wanted the challenge. He decided to start the three of them off, ignoring their captain.

"3.. 2.. 1.. GO!"

All three of them took off, leaving Makoto feeling defeated. He turned to Rei, who was equally as confused.

"I need a minute before I get back in that water. You staying too?"

Rei gave a simple nod, as he was exhausted. He didn't want to admit that he was tired, but it was the truth. He was sure Makoto was physically fine, but his fear was taking over.

"Yeah, we can wait a few."

The two of them watched the others, which was quite a sight. Nagisa made it suprisingly far before having to tread for a few to catch his breath. He was an incredible swimmer, just not quite on par with the other two.

Speaking of the other two, they continued to sprint all the way back. Of course they slowed over time, but neither lost their will to push. When they reached about a quarter mile is when the other two left the island.

When Rin and Haru reached the shore, they just sat in the extremely shallow water. They tied, which should've been upsetting. Neither found it in them to be upset though, as they just looked to each other and laughed. Now that they swam together, the animosity between them fizzled away.

Nagisa got to the shore not too long after, offering each a hand up. They all went to meet Gou, who finally stopped gawking at all the men around to help make sandwiches.

Rei and Makoto got out together, heading straight for the food that was already ready for them. The six of them sat together and ate, glad to all be together and happy. It was a nice moment of peace before their big day tomorrow.
