They made their way off the train and followed the tall man that summoned all of the first years. Y/n looked around for the boy from the robe shop but she was too short.

"Looking for someone?" Blaise asked her.

"Yeah, but they can wait," y/n said as she looked around the woods but they stopped.

The tall men told them to pair up and get into boats.

"Boats?" y/n questioned.

"Oh don't tell me you've never been on a boat before," Blaise said, then y/n shook her head. "Here you can stick with me."

"I'm going with Pansy," Draco said making Pansy's face light up.

"Well, Crabbe, Goyle, guess it'll just be you two," y/n said.

"Grab my hand," Blaise whispered.

"What?" y/n questioned.

"So we don't lose each other in the sea of people, now c'mon," he grabbed her hand and led her to a boat.

"Uh," y/n stepped back.

"I'll help you in," Blaise said.

He got in first and held his hand out for her. She took it and stepped in and immediately sat down.

"Aren't we supposed to row?" y/n asked.

Blaise chuckled, "Ever heard of magic?" he questioned.

"Oh," she said as soon as she noticed they were moving.

"Not so bad is it?" Blaise asked, she just shook her head. "It is quite a wonder."

"Yeah," she looked down at the water and went to stick her hand in.

"Woah, I wouldn't do that," Blaise said as he grabbed her arm.

"Why not?" she questioned.

"Uh you don't want to know what's in that water," he said.

She shook off her hand then looked up at the castle, "Woah."

"What?" Blaise asked then he turned around, "Wow, it is way bigger than the pictures."

Y/n chuckled, "That's because pictures make things look smaller."

"Suppose you have a point," he laughed. "Nice necklace's."

"Oh," y/n looked down and grabbed the locket, "This one was with me when I was dropped off at the orphanage as a baby, and this one," she grabbed the snake, "This is from my father."

"Have you ever met your parents?" y/n shook her head, "Well how did you get the snake one from your father?"

"He instructed the Malfoy's to give it to me before I went to Hogwarts," y/n explained as she looked down at it.

"And the charm bracelet?" he pointed at it.

"Oh, this was a gift from the Malfoy's, they said each year before we leave we'll get a present. Draco of course will get something different every year, but I will get a new charm," y/n said as she fiddled with the snake charm.

"That is neat," he said, "May I?" He gestured at the bracelet.

"Oh sure," she gave him her arm and he inspected it. "They got the closest snake they could find that looked like Bindi."

"It's very beautiful," he said as he let go.

"Thank you, I was thinking about painting a small white dot on its head like Bindi," y/n said. "What do you think?"

"That is up to you," Blaise said, "You know y/n, I'm usually not one for friends but I can see myself becoming your friend."

"Thanks?" she said quizzically.

Inside the castle, they followed Hagrid up many steps and they waited on some when a tall, skinny, older lady stepped out.

She stood behind Blaise not seeing the lady, but she could hear her talk about the houses, and a boy named Neville called out Trevor in the middle of her speech. But suddenly she heard Draco speak up.

"So the rumors are true," he stepped towards the boy, "The famous Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."

Y/n started up the stairs to stop Draco but Blaise grabbed her arm, "Don't," he whispered.

"I'm Draco Malfoy," then the boy with flaming red hair chuckled, "Think my names funny do you? No need to guess yours, red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley." Draco emphasized the word Weasely.

"Blaise, he's making fun of him," y/n whispered.

"Let it go y/n, you made a promise to him, he told me all about it," as Blaise said this she put her head down.

"Well Potter, you'll find that some wizarding families are better than others," he stuck his hand out.

Harry looked down at it then back up at Draco, "I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself thanks," Harry said.

Y/n waited for Draco to lose it but McGonagall came back and told them that they were ready.

They walked into the great hall and y/n was mesmerized by the ceiling, she had read about it, saying that it was just bewitched to look like the sky. She could feel eyes on her, but shook it off and continued to walk.

"You alright?" Blaise whispered.

"Fine. Why do you ask?" she responded.

"You shivered, you cold or nervous?" he asked.

"Cold, I guess," y/n said then she clenched her hands feeling her fingernails dig into her palms.

"Uh, y/n," Blaise said, when she looked at him he pointed at her hand, "You are bleeding."

She opened her hands, she has never done that before, "I don't know what I did, how did you know?"

"I could hear the boys behind us questioning it," he looked at her hands, "You want me to get a professor?"

"No I'll be okay," she wiped the blood away on her robes.

"So, you are nervous," he said.

"Only a little."

She listened for her name, seems how Professor McGonagall had started to call out names. She checked to make sure she wasn't bleeding anymore, and she wasn't.

"Riddle, y/n," Professor McGonagall called.

Draco and Harry had already gone, so y/n was praying to get into Slytherin or Gryffindor. She reluctantly made her way towards the hat and sat down, she could still feel eyes burning in her back.

"Hm, very difficult. I see you want to prove yourself yes, I see bravery, but lots of ambition. Indeed, you have thirst for power I see... better be SLYTHERIN!" The hat took its sweet time deciding, she got up and made her way over towards Draco and Pansy and sat down next to Pansy.

"The hat took his sweet time," Draco said.

"Just a little to long for my liking," y/n said as she adjusted her robes.

Finally the last person, Blaise.

"Zabini, Blaise," Professor McGonagall yelled.

He made his way up the stairs and sat down. The hat stood on his head for a couple seconds before yelling "SLYTHERIN!"

Y/n sighed in relief, she told Crabbe and Goyle to move so he could sit next to her.

"I was worried for a second," Blaise said as he sat down.

"I wasn't," y/n said.
