The special day had finally come! It was only four in the morning when we had to get up for the flight. Our plane leaves at six thirty along with an hour drive to the airport. I took a quick shower, put my hair up in a rainbow bun, and put a white bow on it. I put on a purple spaghetti strap shirt with some jeans. I grabbed my flannel jacket and tied it around my waist in case it got cold. I rolled my suitcase, which I had packed the night before, out to the front door where Quinton was taking them down to his black truck. I grabbed my backpack out of the closet and started putting some things inside of it.
Chargers, books, headphones, my iPod, medications in case I get sick, my wallet, my passport, and a few snacks were placed in my bag. I also slid my tiny bag into my backpack as well. I put my backpack on my back and locked the apartment behind me. I walked down the apartment building stairs once again, knowing I won't be back for a while. I placed my backpack in the backseat and sat down in the front passenger seat, and started checking the flights, in case our flight was cancelled or moved.
It was around four thirty when we finally started driving to the airport. It was a quiet ride, and I fell asleep on the way there. Quinton must've had a few coffees before we left because clearly he was up and ready to start the day.
Once we arrived we parked our car in the secure parking lot for travelers, and waited for the bus to the airport would come and pick us up. Once the bus arrived, we got our luggage and quickly boarded the bus. There was about three other small groups of people on the same bus, but we all were going on different flights and airports. We were dropped off first at American Airlines. We walked up to the front desk and got our tickets for the plane. Luckily, we were able to get first class and PreCheck, so we went through security quickly without an issue of standing in a long line.
We had about half an hour to get to our gate, which happened to be on the other side of the airport, so we had to run down the hallway to get to our gate to check in to claim our first class seat. We arrived twenty minutes before we were boarding, so it only took us ten minutes to run to the gate, but we did stop to go to the bathroom along the way. We checked in, but we had twenty minutes to spare. I sat down and claimed two chairs and played games on my phone while Quinton went and got us some breakfast sandwiches from down the hallway. It wasn't the best sandwich, but it was still good enough. After all, I hadn't eaten anything all morning.
Quinton took a short nap while I read some of my book, I only finished twelve pages before we had to board the plane. I was so excited! In two hours we would be in Charlotte, North Carolina, which then we would take a seven-hour flight to London! We boarded and sat down in our spots. It was quiet most of the time, except for when you could hear a baby screaming from the back end of the plane. The flight attendants handed out drinks for everyone.
I got some apple juice, but Quinton got some Coca-Cola. Quinton took a nap for most of the plane, and I just read a book. I read my mother's book again, but this time I got seventy pages done, putting me at page two hundred and seventy-four. There was a total of six hundred and ninety-two pages in the whole book, but I read slowly, so I can understand everything, so it takes me a while to read each page, not to mention that the text is very small, so there are more words on a single page. The book was my grandmother's, so it's around eighty years old. It's very fragile, that's why I keep it in its own pocket in my backpack. I took a small nap after reading, since it made me tired.
We landed in North Carolina and quickly ran to the next gate. We made it just in time for boarding. We had a seven-hour flight ahead of us, but it was really exciting.
