Y/N's POV

Today was the first day of my fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft And Wizardry. I woke up early today so that I could finish packing my trunk once that was done I started getting ready and thinking about the past summer.

Over the summer I worked on myself a lot. I was in a dark place mentally during my fourth year and i really needed recovering from that and to gain back my self-confidence. Growing up at Hogwarts and in the wizarding world, Ive always been quiet and tried not to stand out. Not that I did anyways, but I hate being in the spotlight. Being one of the most well-known pure blood families in wizard Europe definitely doesn't help the situation though.

As my mother once said, "Y/N, you are a Taylor, there are certain standards and expectations you need to live up to". Not that that certainly helped the pressure but it helped open my eyes to who I was and how much my name actually meant. So having that, over the summer I worked on being the young woman I have always wanted to be and started looking to my full potential. Except for a new wardrobe, sense of fashion, learning how to be a woman, and etiquette critique, I also had the liberty for puberty to hit me like hippogriff at full speed. My body was changing and I learned how to except it and live with it.

I got out of the shower and put on my clothes looking at the clock to see I had twenty minutes til we left to do my hair and makeup. I hurried and dryer and straightened my hair using my wand then put on some mascara and lip tint before going downstairs with my trunk. One of our house elves Sophie took my trunk and put it in the carriage. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a piece of toast from the counter while my mother eyed me over the newspaper. She said, "Y/N, you better not cause trouble this year". You smirked and said, "I, Y/N Taylor would never". My mother gave a sarcastic smile and said, "Seriously Y/N, I expect you to stay out of trouble this year. Especially with those friends of yours". My mother has always been conflicted about how she felt about my friends. She'd met all of them briefly before and the only one that she had become familiar with was Pansy considering her and I were joined at the hip.

I said, "Mother, you adore Pansy". She looked up from her newspaper again and took an elegant sip from her morning tea. She said, "You know I do. It the boys I worry about Y/N". I said, "Mother Theo and Blaise are like my brothers, and Malfoy and Tom are merely acquaintances that happen to be in the same friend group as I". This was completely true. Theo and Blaise were like my older brothers. They looked out for me and were there for I whenever you needed them. We had a sort of sibling love for each other Malfoy and Tom on the other hand, were barely friends. Whenever we would hang out all together, we would only exchange a few words, those of which included taunting or banter.

Mother pulled out her pocket watch and looked at the time. She said, "Go to the carriage, we need to be leaving". I went to the carriage and my mother and father came in and sat across from me a few moments later. My father and I had a mutual understanding with each other. I knew he loved me but he always had a tough time of showing it. He was always very closed and had a neutral expression.

The carriage ride to Kings Cross had gone by quickly with complete silence between my parents and I. When we arrived, I brought my trunk and luggage to platform 9 3/4 and loaded it up. The train was about to depart when I said my final goodbyes to my parents. I hugged my mother and my father to my hand and kissed it goodbye. I walked on the train in search of my friends knowing exactly where they would be. We always had our own designated spot on the train. I opened the compartment door to see Pansy, Blaise, Theo, Tom, and Malfoy already there. Theo said, "There she is". All the boys gazed over you for a second admiring your new change. I sat next to Pansy and said, "Hello to you too". I caught up with Pansy for a bit and talked over each other's summers and how excited we were for fifth year.

I saw my friends over the summer and hung out with them but it still felt like forever since I had spoken to them in person. The boys were mainly talking about quidditch and it was boring me half to death. I turned to Pansy and said, "Can I sleep on you". She said, "Yes darling". All you heard in the background were the boys talking then I kissed Pansy on the lips and the conversation halted and it was silent. I laid my head on her shoulder then noticed how quiet it was. I said, "What? Jealous", when you noticed all the boys staring at you two. Pansy and I started giggling.

Theo said "Are you sure you two aren't madly in love with each other". Pansy then said, "Why Theo? Do we need to let your through so you can go wank off in the loo". Theo smirked and I said, "You know you love it", and smirked back. Blaise belly laughed and I smiled back. Tom looked you up and down with a curious look on his face which made you wonder what he was thinking.

I soon fell asleep on Pansy's shoulder and one hour later when the train screeched is when I woke. We all walked off the train to the carriages and rode to Hogwarts. Theo was sitting next to me when he whispered in my ear, "Did you bring the stuff". I turned and whispered in his ear, "Of course I did Theo. I plan on pulling it out tonight". Theo silently fist bumped me and gave me a smile which I returned. Theo and I were what you refer to as drinking buddies. Him and I always drank and smoked together and always had a good time with each other.

We arrived at Hogwarts and went straight to the great hall for the first supper. we all sat down at our usual spot at the dinner table and waited for hell to start. Every year Dumbledore had a twenty minute speech about the start of the year and repeating basic rules. Along with that, the first years also had to get sorted making the whole rounding last thirty agonizing minutes. I was leaning on my elbow on the table in between Tom and Pansy about to fall asleep from Dumbledores monotone voice when Tom nudged me. I realized the speech was over and Blaise said, "Bloody hell Y/N, how much do you sleep".

I turned to Blaise and said, "Its the same speech every single year. He could spice it up a bit every now and then". Pansy said, "I swear it takes years off my life". I laughed along with everyone else and started serving food on my plate. Everyone carried on with regular conversation the whole supper after that.

Once supper was over, it was time to find out who we would be joining rooms with. Every year, I got my own room and had a adjoining bathroom with usually a girl. I headed to the Slytherin common room to get the form from a prefect who had the bedroom numbers and information. For the most part I could care less who I shared a bathroom with. As long as they kept there shit clean and organized, the bathroom was merely a mutual space between them and I.
