Gavin stood in front of the button, pacing back and forth as he chewed on his nail, a nervous habit he wished had died ages ago.
Finally he stopped and stayed still in front of it, staring at the button, the thing that would bring an end to everything he had worked so hard to get. But it had to be done. It was the only way.
Exhaling shakily, Gavin tried to hype himself up. "If I'm gonna press it ever, it's now. There's no other time. I've almost run out of it."
"The thing...THE THING THAT I BUILT THIS NATION FOR DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE!" Gavin yelled, voice almost going hoarse at the strain he put on it. "T-The thing I worked towards doesn't exist anymore! It's over..."
"What are you doing?"
Gavin froze up at that voice, the sound of it shocking him to his very core, making him look around in panic.
"Hosuh..?"
"What are you doing." Hosuh's voice repeated again, much more firm this time. It wasn't a question.
"Hosuh, where are you..?" Gavin asked uneasily, eyes darting around the room.
"I'm joining the server right now." He replied.
"I-I wasn't doing anything, we just made Lex president." Gavin panicked, beginning to ramble. "We - We elected Lex as president, and we won! We won the war, Ann's gone, Ann's gone, Hos, so it's um.."
"Uh-huh," Hosuh replied smoothly. "So you are...where exactly now?"
Gavin swallowed, smiling as he lied. "In L'Manburg, sort of the area...you wouldn't know, I don't think you've been here, but it's the area around L'Manburg - It's complicated, Geography and that, it's..." He paused to breathe, trailing off as his eyes travelled up to figure standing in the doorway.
Hosuh stood there, arms crossed across his chest, long, feathery wings spread out behind him, and eyes narrowed in a knowing look.
"Hos..?" Gavin mumbled, eyes wide in shock.
"Mhm." Hosuh hummed, creating such a deafening silence afterwards that Gavin felt like the stone walls were closing in on him.
"Uh.." Gavin started to speak up, but Hosuh cut him off.
"Yeah, it's in L'Manburg, you said."
"T...This is L'Manburg, I.." He sighed shakily through his nose. "Ok, I will admit.." He moved his arm to gesture towards the button behind him. "Do you know what this button is?"
"Uh-huh, I do." Hosuh nodded.
Gavin continued. "Have you heard the...the song on the walls before? Have you heard the song?"
Hosuh just stared, so Gavin took a sign off the wall with some of the words to the song and smiled bitterly. "I was just saying, I made this big point, and it was poignant, and it was that there was a special place where men could go, but i-it's not there anymore, you know, it's not.."
"It is there," Hosuh smiled softly, placing a hand on his son's shoulder. "You've just...you've just won it back, Gav.."
Hands shaking as he gripped the sign, Gavin screamed out in rage. "HOSUH, I'M ALWAYS SO CLOSE TO PRESSING THIS BUTTON, I HAVE BEEN...I HAVE BEEN HERE LIKE 7 OR 8 TIMES, I HAVE BEEN HERE! ...7 or 8 times.."
Tears rolling down his cheeks now, Gavin looked up at his father. "Hos, I...I've been here so many times..they're fighting, they're fighting." Because of me, he wanted to add, but didn't need to. They both knew anyway.
Hosuh placed a gentle hand on Gavin's blue locks, speaking gently now. "And you want to just blow it all up..?"
"Yeah I do, I think I..." He sighed, slightly leaning into the comforting hand on his head.
