Chapter 33: News (Ella's POV)
Two weeks went by. Slowly, tediously, boringly, two whole weeks went by. The first week, we had major training, if you will. The second week, we were left to fend for ourselves. Which was extremely annoying. I didn't have much to do in the first place, so I was fine.
But Nicholas Williams... my husband barely got any time for me. He was so busy throughout the day and at night he would be so drained and exhausted. I don't blame him, it's just going to take time getting used to this.
But right now it was the middle of the night and I was sitting in the bathroom, where I had now locked myself. I stood in front of the mirror, my hands on the counter. I stared at the sink and then let out a small groan, closing the toilet lid, I sat down, my knee bouncing up and down instinctively.
I tore a piece of toilet paper and focused on slowly ripping it to shreds. When that didn't help, I groaned in frustration, throwing it all in the trash. I sighed, dragging my hands down my face.
I'm late. Like I'm late!
And I don't have a pregnancy test that I can take.
I was sitting there when there was a knock on the door which startled the shit out of me. "Yes?" I asked.
"Are you all right, Ella?" Nick's voice came through. He sounded like he just woke up. Which makes sense because he was asleep when I came in here.
I was calculating in bed about when I would get my period and then I realized I already should have gotten it. Then I freaked out. "I'm fine," I replied, standing up and huffing, opening the door.
He squinted at the bright lights I had on in the bathroom and looked at me in confusion. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing," I shook my head, putting a smile on. "Just felt a little sick."
He looked at me confused and doubtfully.
"Let's go back to bed." I grabbed his arm, ready to take him out of the bathroom but he didn't budge.
"Ella," he said warily. "Will you tell me what happened?"
"Nothing, I swear," I chuckled. "Nick, you were tired, just go back to sleep."
"I'm not sleeping until you tell me," he said firmly.
"Please?" I said softly, brushing his hair out of his eyes.
He grabbed my hand, pulling it down and using it to pull me closer till my body was pressed against his. "Spit it out. Now."
I stared at him, looking at his eyes. "I'm late."
He looked at me, utterly confused. "For what?"
I facepalmed, "I'm late."
"Baby, for what?" he huffed.
"I'm late. My period is late. I am late, Nicholas!" I huffed, grabbing either side of his head and shaking it, hoping it shook sense into him.
His mouth formed an 'O' as he nodded softly. "Oh, wait." His eyes widened. "Is that good news or bad news?"
"It's just... news," I mumbled.
"Have you taken a test?"
I shook my head, "I don't have one," I mumbled. "I need to go get it."
"I'll take you," he nodded.
"N-now?"
"I don't... do you want it now?"
