Chapter 30: Celibate (Nicholas' POV)
The next four days went by smoothly. Mainly because we remained inside the palace as much as we could. Her wound was now mostly just a scab, which she is having a very hard time not picking.
We haven't been eating any of our meals with my parents. My mom comes in to check on us every once in a while and sometimes she sits with us in the backyard, but other than that nothing else is happening.
We were currently in the library. She's looking for something to read and I'm just keeping her company.
"Ella."
"Yes?"
"How long have you been celibate?" I asked. It was on my mind.
She stopped walking and turned to me. "What?" she chuckled. "How long have you been celibate?"
"How long have you been celibate?" she questioned.
I hesitated but answered nonetheless. "Three years."
She nodded before saying, "Two years."
"So, we both slept with someone during our first year as royals? Great," I said sarcastically. I know who I slept with but... who the hell did she sleep with?
"You are not going to ask for a story now, are you?" she deadpanned.
"Maybe I was," I mumbled.
"Then you have to tell me yours."
I nodded in agreement.
"It was a stupid ball. I drank too much, I hated royalty and I needed a distraction."
"You slept with a prince?"
"No," she said slowly, avoiding me and continuing to look through books.
"Did you sleep with a king?"
She spun back to look at me, her face in horror. "Ew, no! That would be someone my father's age, Nicholas!" she exclaimed, hitting my shoulder with one of the books she had grabbed.
"Then what? Did you sleep with a goddamn waiter?"
She didn't answer and went back to looking at books.
"Did you?" I stared at her in shock.
"No, not a waiter," she chuckled.
I let out a breath and stepped in front of her, blocking her way. "Then who?"
"With a performer."
I stared at her quizzically.
"My mother knew this woman in Velaris, her son would often sing at restaurants or bars to make tips and a little extra money. He was at the palace that night, performing. I slept with him," she mumbled, walking past me. "Your turn."
"Huh?"
She looked back at me, folding her arms across her chest. "You made me say it all. Now it's your turn."
I should have thought this through before asking her.
"A princess?"
I shook my head.
"A queen?" she smirked, clearly amused.
I shook my head quickly.
"A waiter?" she asked mockingly.
I turned her around, pushing her forward while laughing.
"A waitress?" She looked at me over her shoulder.
