30:22 The Encounter

Part 2

Everything was going great we had plenty of food, it was smooth sailing and then we got breached. Heres how it went down:

Oh, by the way Ill trying make it as clear as possible who is saying what.

Both Joel and I were practising shooting with a crossbow, when the lights started the flicker and we heard people rushing about, and panicking. We grabbed as many weapons as we could and ran into the main room.

Me – Whats going on? As I ask my question my eyes darted around the room.

Timm – Weve been breached. Timm replied quickly while grabbing

Joel – Breached like one of the monsters are in the bunker.

Me – Thats what breached means Joel.

The usual hunting party grabbed their weapons and started heading in the tunnels of the bunker to try and kill whatever it was that was in there.

Joel – Okay then lets go

Me – you cant be serious

Joel nodded at me then grabbed his crossbow and rushed towards the exit of the bunker.

Me – Joel wait, shit

By the exit of the bunker the team was building up a strategy to kill that thing. And then Joel wanted to help, he has this problem where he tries to help but ends up not helping at all.

Joel – so where do you want me, do you want me at the rear or.

Timm – I thought we were past this Joel.

Joel – Passed what. I can help let me help.

Ray – are you going to make me say it.

Joel – say what.

Timm – you cant handle it. You get to shaken up

Me – guys just go I can handle him.

The guys left into the tunnels closing the door behind them. I turned to Joel, he tried to follow them, but I stopped him.

Me – look Joel this is what we do we stay in the bunker, we make soup. What we dont do is help kill the bloody monsters.

Joel – fine whatever.

I hate telling Joel that he cant help but I can see how much he wants too but man is that kid stubborn. He could help if he didnt have a freezing problem. Staring at the tablet screen we could see the heat signatures of Timm, Ray and the others. Less than 30 metres away was a monster and it was huge. Like king Kong huge. The group started getting closer to the monster, when it grabbed one of them and pulled them into the labyrinth of tunnels that surrounded the bunker. The door into the tunnels opened it was Joel he was stupidly going to help.

Ava – Joel what are you doing

Joel – they need help

Me – Joel wait. Ok shit

I grabbed my crossbow and followed Joel well probably to my death. Whatever the creature was it had one of our colony, and I would be dammed if it would get Joel too. So, Joel and I found where the creature was, Joel went into the room first, followed behind him, spotting the silhouette of a huge, mutated ant. It had Connor and it ate him like he was a snack. Joel pulled up his crossbow, but he froze the huge ant was slowly getting closer and closer to him. I pulled up my crossbow and flicked up the aim. With a deep breathe I pulled the trigger shooting and arrow directly in its face, killing it almost instantly.
