Frankie's P.O.V.

It was an early Friday morning for me because unfortunetely, I have to go to school. Now, today isn't like a normal school day. It's more like, we get a job today for our highschool credits, and in order to graduate, we have to do it. I prop myself on my hands and shake my head to rid the thoughts of school out of my disoriented brain. Eventually, I get up from my safe haven of a bed, and make my way to my bathroom. As soon as I see myself in the mirror, I flinch at how horrid I look. I turn on the focet and let the cold water run into my cupped hands and splash my face to wake me up even more.

After im done doing my morning routine in the bathroom, which consists of makeup, brushing my teeth, and doing my hair, I walk to my room so I could text my bestfriend Aahliya. Me and her signed up to work together at the same job because honestly, I don't think I would make it through one day without her. I unplug my phone from it's charger and start texting her.

"To Aahliya: Alright. Are you ready for today?"

While I wait for her to respond, I decided on wearing a pair of black leggings with a simple thick knitted red velvet sweater. my hair is in a messy bun because honestly, I don't feel like going to school today. I slipe on my black vans and hear my phone go off.

"From Aahliya: Hell no! I'm scared as to what job we're getting!"

I smile at what she texts me because even though its through a phone, I can still imagine the facial expression shes giving at this very moment.

"To Aahliya: I guess we'll have to find out(:"

And with that, I grabbed my bad off of the floor of my room and made my way to my kitchen's back door. I yell a 'goodbye' to my mom, who is robably still sleeping, and grab the keys to my black range rover. Now, I'm not rich. My rich uncle passed this down to me, because I was his favorite, before he died and now, I have a nice car for free. I open the driver's side door and throw my book bag in the other seat. As I start up the engine, my car roars to life and I reverse my way out of the driveway.

My school isn't far from my house so I get there in the matter of 5 minutes. I see that Aahliya is already waiting for me at the front doors, probably freezing her bum off. Hopping out of my car so fast, I almost fell, but luckily, I caught myself before anything could happen. I ran my way over to Aahliya giving her a smile and in return, I get playful scowl. We made our way to our lockers which were, coincidentally, next to eachother, and got our first through third period books.

"They annouce what 'jobs' we get in first period, right?" Aahliya says, with a hint of nervousness in her voice. I give her a reasurring head nod and smile, trying to make her feel better and not jittery.

We take our seats next to each other and just start talking about random things. Somehow, we always manage to make eachother laugh until we cry by saying or doing the stupidest things.

"Frankie and Aahliya, please come to the office. Frankie and Aahliya, please come the the office." the woman in the intercom spoke. Aahliya and I give eachother weary looks and we made our way out of the classroom door in one swift move. I fumble with my fingers, all of sudden nervous about the whole situation and I give Aahliya a glance. She looks like she's deep in thought so I don't bother her. In no time, we were in front of the office doors and almost as if on cue, we gave each other glances. We both took a deep breath and opened the doors to the place that were awaiting the answers to our questions.

"Aahliya and Frankie?' the front desk lady named Debby asked. We both gave nervous nods and she said,"Right this way." she gave us a fake smile also. She took us behind the front desk and into the main office down the hall. Debby motioned for us to sit down in the two open seats in front of the large desk and we sat down almost immediately.

"Ahh.. Frankie and Aahliya. Two of my best students." and with that, our principle, Mr. Fissel, spun around in his office chair to face us. I gave him a small smile because he always intimidated me, while Aahliya gave him a glare that if looks could kill, he'd be dead in a heartbeat.

"You girls probably have one of the best jobs that were assigned to this school for our student body to volunteer-" Mr. Fissel got cut off by Aahliya and I gave her a weary glare.

"Can you just tell us what we got?" she said with irritation clear as day in her voice. I looked back at Mr. fissel and he gave her a glare. But he nodded his head and put on his reading glasses while reaching for a manila folder on his desk. He opened it up and chuckled slightly to himself. Aahliya and I looked at each other and back at the principle.

"You girls are going to being working at the local asylum called Tranquil Heights." he said with a devious smile. My mouth dropped open. We were workig in an asylum?! Are you kidding me?

"No can do. We aren't working with crazy people." Aahliya said with aggravation laced within her voice. I looked back at the principle and he had a devious smile on his face and shook his head no. What's that suppose to mean?

"Sorry girls, but unless you want to graduate, you have to do this job for enough credits. It's the last job we have to offer because you guys were willing to let us choose for you-" Aahliya cut him off again.

"Is this some sort of joke? Are we even allowed to work there without a special degree or something?" I gave her a warning glare and a kick to her leg, but she ignored me and gave Mr. Fissel a glare.

"Listen, you guys aren't 'working' there, you're volunteers. And they were okay with you guys coming in, and helping them. Your first shift starts tomorrow, 8:00 a.m. sharp. End of discussion." he said with anoyance in his voice. Aahliya got up and stormed out of his office and I followed in suit, but gave Mr. Fissel a weary smile. I finally managed to catch up to her and I tapped her shoulder trying to get her attention. She abruptly stopped and turned around.

"Aahliya, it's alright. It can't be that bad because we are just volunteers. They cant give us something major to do. Probably just file work or something." I said, trying to reassure her that it's going to be okay.

"But Frankie, I've been in there before and it's not a pretty sight to see. There are crazy loonatics in that place that could seriously and easily hurt the both of us." she said in a frantic tone. I looked down at the ground in thought, then looked back into her eyes.

"We'll have to see what happens okay? And if anythig does, we'll just have to inform whoever's head minister there, alright? But for right now, I'm in the mood for frozen yogurt. Not really feeling like doing school work today." I said with a mischevious smile. She smirked at me and nodded. We snuck our way out of school and into the parking lot to where my car is currently sitting.

But little does she know that I'm petrified of walking into that place tomorrow.
