A cold wind swept through the forest and spilled out on the frozen lake where a woman stood. Yet it did nothing to quell the excitement she felt at receiving the news.
She rushed from the lake and came upon a large mansion that was in fact the stronghold of her clan, clan Wren. Large but minimalistic in design, the towering complex made of glass and durasteel was stunning and elegant to look at and fit perfectly in the high mountains and evergreen forests that were the landscape of the planet. Yet the woman did not pay it any attention, for the news was such that she could not wait and appreciate her ancestral home.
Entering the building, she immediately came upon the large throne for the leader of clan Wren which was, as of now, unoccupied. She moved past the throne and walked through a few hallways to reach the quarters of the family of the clan leader. Coming up to a door, she opened it to find the clan leader, Ursa Wren as well as the woman's younger brother, Tristan Wren. Tears were streaming down both their eyes, but these were not tears of sadness, but joy. Ursa moved out of the way to reveal Jade Eldar, sister-in-law of the woman, sitting on a bed beside which was a crib. The two had quickly formed a strong bond and garnered great respect for each other.
"I came as soon as I got the message." The woman said.
"And not a moment too soon." Jade replied. She beckoned the woman and told her to look in the crib.
Moving forward, the woman looked in the crib to see a newborn baby, asleep and oblivious to the matters of the galaxy.
"His name is Zolar." Tristan said, walking to stand beside her.
"Congratulations Sabine, you're an aunt." Ursa said, doing the same. The normally stoic woman was uncharacteristically emotional today.
Zolar Wren, Sabine thought. Unbeknownst to most outside clan Wren, that was actually the name of Sabine's great-grandfather. Sabine never really wanted to be a leader, which meant that after Ursa, Tristan would inherit the throne. This also meant that Zolar would be next. And Sabine vowed to herself that she would do whatever it takes to help him become worthy of it.
