The meeting's over in an hour. I grab the last untouched cup of latte on the table and stride towards the door. My fingers could dig into the file if I were holding it any tighter. Lynn's busy talking to some members about their work details so I excuse myself and walk past them. I need to get home early to pack my things. Get my room at the headquarters cleared out. We should be at Earl's within an hour.

On my way out I meet Lara, who's sitting at the main desk, beaming in her new blush pink sungown. She's the only staff privilidged to not wear a uniform during work hours now. Her belly has outgrown the suit and she already has that radiant maternal glow. That's one of the reasons why she couldn't get promoted to a senior. The tasks assigned to such a rank would be too risky for her and her baby.

"Ella!" she smiles at me as she pulls me into a comforting hug. "Careful, the latte's gonna ruin your dress" I raise my eyebrows at her, grinning in excitement.

I sit beside her to talk for a while, just when Sven walks past us, scrolling through his phone. His eyes don't follow anywhere else. Like he's lost in his own bubble.

"Tough meeting huh" she makes a face at him when he leaves. "You could say that" I heave a sigh, tracing a finger across the latte cup " Lynn's assigning us to guard Mr.Mavrick, and we should be there in an hour..They've sent some juniors to help me grab a few things already".

"Given your past I'm pretty sure Lynn knows what he's doing. I mean he wouldn't just pair you and Sven for no reason" She shrugs.

"But how do I work with him" I mutter under my breath, " The last time we spoke was 3 years ago and he already has a girlfriend. I can't just-"

"Honey if he's moving on stronger and faster than you, you should pick up the pace and work twice as hard to be happier" Lara glares at me.
