Me and my mum get into a carriage, sitting down on opposite sides. "Are you excited for this y/n?" My mum asked with a big smile. "Yeah..." I said looking out the small window. The whole carriage ride was my mum talking whilst I sat silently. I didn't know if I was good enough to do this task. I mean I'm killing a member of the royal family. I'm only an amateur, I've only been working as an assassin for a month. I look up to see my mum continuing to talk. I take a deep breath in, remember, it's one dance.
The carriage suddenly stops, signalling that we have reached our destination. My hands start to shake. "Are you excited?" My mum said helping me out of the carriage. "Yeah..." I said quietly. I turn around to see a big castle
I look in amazement, the light coming from inside the castle seemed to shoo the night sky away. I begin walking up the stairs, holding my dress up so I wouldn't trip and fall. The interior was very polished and clean. It all looked ravishing and expensive. A butler took us down into the ballroom, where everyone was. The room had a giant chandelier hanging from the roof and the floor was a polished marble. The walls all had paintings on them, and Greek pillars were separating them all into different sections. There was a big glass door that led to the outside. I stood in awe, watching all the woman in their beautiful dresses dance with a man in a simple tuxedo. They all moved in time with the classical orchestra music. I look over to see my mum talking to a bunch of different people. I smile, happy that she'll at least have a good time.
I look around awkwardly, not really knowing what to do whilst waiting for the prince. I found a seat, waiting for something to happen. A couple of girls next to me were excitedly whispering to each other, saying how they wanted to dance with the prince. I sighed out in annoyance, tired of hearing everyone talk about how much they were in love with him. I got up, getting a drink from one of the tables stationed around the room. I took a big sip from it, wishing I was home already.
There was a sudden clinging of glasses, and the room fell silent. "The prince will now pick a certain amount of ladies to dance with. I wish everyone here a lovely evening." The king said. Sitting back down in his throne. Most girls squealed. I take a couple of deep breaths in and out. I needed to be likeable enough for him to be interested enough to ask me. I was looking around in a attempt to find someone who would look like a prince, when I heard a girl behind me say that he chose someone. I turn my head towards the middle of the room to see a tall man. He had chiselled features and fluffy brown hair. His eyes were a light blue, and his body was physically fit. He wore a long black jacket that had buttons and gold lines going down either side. The sleeves where cuffed and the jacket was long at the back. He wore black boots that went up to his shins and a white shirt which was only visible at the top of the jacket, where there was a bow.
I stared at him in awe. The way he danced around the ballroom with the girl, it was mesmerising. I found myself continuing to stare, even when the dance stopped. A couple of dances later, I was still standing hoping he would pick me, though I knew my chances were slim. I didn't know whether I wanted him to pick me because of my mission or because I just wanted to be close to him. I watched him walk around every girl, eventually coming in my direction. I hold my breathe as he locks eyes with me. He was standing right in front of me, extending his hand out. "Would you like to dance." He said with a small smile. I stare at him for a couple of seconds, then I quickly remember the task at hand. I clear my throat and give him a small smile. "It would be my pleasure." I take his hand, letting him pull me out to the middle of the room.
We looked into each others eyes, holding hands as the music slowly starts to fade away. "That dress looks beautiful on you." He says to me, spinning me around. "Thank you, I'm surprised you would of even noticed it from all the other pretty ladies." I said with a small smile. "None of them seem to match your beauty." He said. I blush lightly, looking away from his eyes. "May I get your name?" He asked. "Y/n." I said, my e/c eyes looking back into his icy blue eyes. "Y/n... that's a lovely name." He said with a smile. "I'm Aiden." He said, spinning me again. I smile, wishing this moment could last forever.
Suddenly the music stopped, and so did we. Everyone clapped as me and the prince continue looking into each others eyes. He pulled away from me, giving me a little bow and a kiss on the hand. As he stood back up straight he gave me a little wink. I blush lightly, pulling my hand back. "Father, I think I will stop with the dancing tonight." He said still looking at me. The king nodded, speaking out to everyone. "You can all go back to your dance partners now." He said, allowing the orchestra to play again. He took me by the hand and pulled me out to the back.
