Tiredness. Droopy eyelids. Yawns.
I needed sleep. So I made my way to my bed and laid my head down on my pillow. I grabbed my phone and looked at the lock screen. Nothing. I didn't expect anything to be there, but a distinct sense of sadness still clawed its way into my heart.
I didn't need anyone blowing up my phone anyway.
I set my phone down on my bedside table and laid on my back, staring blankly at my ceiling. It stared right back at me. I sighed and rested my forearm over my face. Everything was just so boring. I rolled over onto my side and closed my eyes.
When I opened my eyes again, I was no longer in my room. I was standing, looking towards a crystal clear stream. It was obvious to me immediately; I was dreaming.
The place was quite peaceful. Tall blades of grass and small pebbles lined the water. The water was shallow and flowing over a couple stepping stones. The noice of the flowing stream was calming and I couldn't help but appreciate it.
When I looked passed the stream, I saw a person standing opposite me. He was quite tall, with fluffy hair sat atop his head. He had on a disgustingly bright yellow hoodie, although it could've been a lime green. His face, or lack there of, was menacing. He wore a smiley face mask, so I couldn't see what his face looked like underneath. He started walking towards me, using the stepping stones to cross the stream.
"Hi!" The mysterious man said to me. He was taller than I thought he was, now that he was directly in front of me. I gazed at him curiously. "I'm Dream," he said.
"I'm George," I responded simply. 'Dream' grabbed my hand and sat down, making me follow suit. He soon let go and dipped his feet in the water. We were both barefoot. I followed his lead and did the same, hissing as the cold water shocked my skin. He wheezed at my misfortune.
"This is a dream," I randomly said, Dream nodding his head in response. "I'll wake up and you'll be gone. I'll never see you again."
"Now that's no true." I looked at him curiously. "I'll always be waiting for you to fall asleep to see you again."
"But you're just my imagination."
"No," he said, "I'm a friend."
At that moment, I never wanted to wake up. My loneliness subsided when I was with him, but I couldn't sleep forever. I smiled at Dream as my world dissipated and morning came.
Finally I had something to look forward to.
