Third person P.O.V.
Maya Hart was sitting at her desk, drawing. The art teacher had asked everyone to draw something they knew about. As usual, Maya simply drew what she wanted. She looked out the window and imagined the scenery at night. Replace the bright blue sky with scattered white clouds and a shining sun by the dark night and grey clouds, indicating a storm coming. Light up the houses and apartments with bright yellow lights, contrasting with the darkness. And in the middle of the field, a girl.
"Very impressive, Maya." The art teacher said. Maya jumped slightly and put down her sketchpad and her pencil. The teacher resumed her walk.
On the other side of the classroom was Lucas Friar. Lucas was probably the worst student in class. He was arrogant and cocky about everything he ever did. But he never really wanted to be that way. Being the most popular boy in school meant he was "friends" with the shallowest of them all.
Lucas had decided to draw a football field. At least, he tried to make it look like one. He then drew a single player in the middle of the football field, holding a ball. Lucas glanced up at the clock. Ten minutes left.
"Before you guys all gather your things to leave, I'd like to talk to you about your year-long project. As most of you know, during your senior year, you get to work on a big project throughout the whole year. A masterpiece. It can be anything you want. In teams of two, you will realize your project." Miss Beckett said. The students started turning towards their friends, already partnering up. "Class! Order. You don't need to make your teams, since you will draw their names out of a hat." The teacher said. She smiled and lifted up the black fedora from her desk.
As Miss Beckett started walking around class to get the students to draw a name. Maya picked up her sketch and kept on drawing, adding rain to the decor until she heard her name being called out.
"Hart." Lucas said. Maya looked up from her drawing and frowned. She was stuck working with the most arrogant guy in school. Great.
"Friar." Was all she said. Some of his friends whistled while the others kept quiet.
A few minutes later, the bell rang. Lucas made his way to Maya. "Hey." He said. She looked up at him and raised her eyebrows, gathering her books. She walked out of class and he followed her. "Listen, maybe you could come to my place after school so we can talk about the project?" He asked.
Maya sighed and put her books in her locker, grabbing her cigarettes and lighter. She shut the door and turned to Lucas. "Sure. Then we can bake cupcakes and watch a movie." She said. Lucas frowned. He was trying to be nice to her.
"You're coming over. We have to start, and I know we both don't want to fail. So wait for me in the parking lot. I'll come get you." He said before leaving. Maya walked out of school by the backdoor to join her friends under the bleachers.

A/N: This is the prologue to my new story. It's very, very OOC and AU. In this story, Maya, Lucas, Riley and Farkle are all 16. It will contain sensitive subjects in later chapters (drugs, abuse, sex), so read at your own risk. Hope you enjoyed!
