Queen Bee

I tear through the halls. The bells ring and the shuffling of feet fill the air. The entire building is packed.

"Excuse me, coming through." I say, pushing through the throng of people. The crowded hallways bothered me, and that was the only way to get through. To be assertive, even though I didn't really LIKE being assertive. "Of course, queen Ella." I hear someone say sarcastically.

"What was that?" I ask, whirling around. The offending girl stands tall. Her hair is chestnut brown in a French braid, and her eyes are a deep brown. Her lips are pink like a rose and she has a thin but sturdy build. She's wearing a blue T-shirt with three buttons up to the neck and light green jean shorts. Pretty.

"Nothing." She said, clutching her books to her chest and pushing her away past me. I huff. The nerve of her.

My water bottle falls to the floor. I hastily wipe it up with the napkins I keep in my purse. I'm very OCD. I can't stand anything being messy.

I instantly feel bad for the way I judged that girl. She thought I was mean because I was popular. I wonder sometimes if I am mean. I try to always say nice things. She probably thought I was mean because of how I pushed through the halls, too. I can't help that. The job is to get to class, and I'm very driven to get a job done.

I've always been very work driven, ever since I started living with my stepmom and her two daughters. They're nice, but Maria (my stepmom), always wants the house pristine, so we spend most of the day cleaning.

Now, my dad isn't out of the picture, but he's always away on work.

I glance at my iPhone. "I'm gonna be late!" I squeal, picking up the pace. Right as the bell rings, I slid into my math class. Still right on time.

For possibly the most insane day of my life.
