How did this happen...?

The sacred isle was seen hovering above, shimmering with the power of light; however, at the center, there was a speck of darkness that seemed to be growing, threatening to overtake it.

I need to do something... She struggled to get up but was immediately slammed back down again, yelping in pain.

A little girl cried out.

The young woman then felt someone stomp their foot on her back which made pain shoot up her spine. Her eyes were stinging with tears as she looked up to see the person who had used her for power.

"Look at how the young student has fallen." They mocked with a smirk, rearing back their fist ready to bash her head into the ground.

She closed her eyes shut, praying everything would end. She was hurt and she didn't have the will to resist; however, her heart spoke to her.

We can't afford to die and lose here. We have the fate of everything hanging in the balance. And, it was right.

The young woman couldn't allow herself to die here and have the sacred realm be in control by despicable human beings.

Even though she herself despised her species for how they treated her in the past, it didn't necessarily mean that all of them were power-hungry and selfish.

The young woman had a couple of friends she had grown attached to and even fell in love with someone. If she gave up now, she would have them suffer because someone else wanted more than what they had.

Every living being; whether it be spirit or human, was counting on her. Their fate and the sacred isle were in her hands.

With those thoughts in her mind, she snapped open her eyes, the pupils glowing white. "REFLAGA!"

A white dome of light erupted for her, expanding and interrupting the enemy's attack, knocking them away.

The enemy regained his footing, growling.

"Why!?"

The enemy spared a glance to a young man holding a pair of swords.

He was bleeding, but it wasn't severe.

Behind him were four staggering young men, most of them holding a different weapon: two holding key-shaped swords, a cutlass, and a pair of swords like the first.

"Answer me! Why!?" The young man shouted, angry.

A little girl stood a little way away from the fighting that the six people and the enemy were in, scared and close to tears.

"Simple. Because spirits should be controlled by humans and that isle is the only realm with the power to do that." The enemy replied.

"Not to mention, that it contains the power of light that can easily be swayed to fall into darkness." A woman's voice joined in, echoing all around. She appeared in green flames, wearing all black, eyeing the young woman as she staggered to her feet with a smirk. "And once I possess all the darkness in her heart, she will be easy to manipulate and create more."

"You of all people should know that this isn't the way!" The young woman yelled at the first enemy ignoring the witch. "Spirits have rights just as much as humans do! They have wills of their own and no one can simply take them away! And I will never fall to the likes of you!"

The first enemy closed his eyes and shook his head, disappointed.

"What does it matter?" Another voice spoke up from above. A man with golden transparent angelic wings descended, holding a floating pink heart in his grasp. "Once you are in that witch's control, there is no one to stop us from achieving our goals. My sister will once again be resurrected using your soulless body and we will kill all the insignificant lowlifes for leaving us half-elves to fend for ourselves."
