AN: Hi! I just wanted to say; thankyou so much for deciding to give my story a chance. I am a beginner, and for some reason thought it would be fun to give this story a try.
Keep in mind this story is supposed to be set in the future around 2033, so the technology is gonna be a little different. In case that confuses anyone.
Yes this is a romance and a science fiction; but you'll have to be patient as it gets more serious.
I will tried to update as much as possible and again thank you so much for giving 'A Lonely Mind' a chance.
All love!!!!😘

I was different. I was dangerous. That's what they told me.
I would replay it constantly in my head, trying to convince myself that maybe there was a possibility I wasn't alone. That maybe there was someone out there who was just like me.
Why? Why did they treat me like this? Constantly I would go through the torture of being kept in this stenching cell. Day after day, and night after night.
I groaned loudly, my head was spinning. Like thunder, the unbearable pain surged through my body, managing to hit every single creaking bone.
I gritted my teeth, forcing my heavy lids open, taking in my surroundings. Oh. They must have put me back in here when I passed out.
Putting my hand to my head, I felt the dried, almost crusty liquid that had oozed from the cut above my brow. Why do they do this to me? I've always done everything they've ever told me.
I've been here for  months now. In this dreary cell that consisted of a small cot that cradled itself in the corner, with a small box leaning against the wall containing my clothes and a pair of mucky old boots.
Dragging my limp body the best I could muster, I practically crawled to my bed, hoisting myself up, trying to get as comfortable as possible. Thoughts began gathering in my head. Would it always be like this? Is this my only purpose?
My eyes became droopy as my painful world was suddenly consumed by darkness once again.

"Hey! Creep...get up!"
My body was tousled over, and I landed on my side with an agonizing grunt.
Squinting my eyes, I found a tall slender man towering over me, with a gun pointed to my head.
My eyes widened as I quickly huddled away in fear from his raging outburst, rushing my body to the corner trying to hurl away from his weapon in a frightful state.
No! Not again! Did they really have to torture me every chance they got?  I can't take it anymore.
"Relax freak...we got another job, lets go." Roughly binding my wrists in chains, he shoved me out of the hole they called a door. Continuing along, his hands tightly restraining my own, he eventually shoved me through a white door.
"Here, put these on," he said, handing me a bundle of clothes, bolting the large door when he left.
Looking over, I glanced into the rather large mirror provided. My green eyes stared back almost emotionless.  My face was pale and a dark purple bruise covered my right eye, and I looked to have a split lip.
I look terrible.
Deciding to be done staring at my tattered face any longer, I got changed into a completely black looking uniform that hugged my body in ways I wished it wouldn't.

The cold tip of his gun pressed against my back. Three other armed men surrounded me as we made our way out of the corrupted federal building.
Immediately a burst of fresh air washed my face.
Blinding light tapped my skin as I squinted my eyes trying to see properly. Eventually adjusting to the light, my eyes followed the sites surrounding me. I  gasped slightly. This was the first time I'd been out of the cell in a while. Technology stirred around me.
Flying cars whipped past me. However looking ahead, piles of garbage littered the streets, as people wandered by as if it were natural. Disgusting. How could they ever let the world fall this low.
"Alright!" I jumped slightly, alarmed from the loud sound of his voice from behind.
"Let's move." Shoving me forward harshly, he registered for us to continue down the street. Reaching our destination, my eyes wandered to see we were in a dark alleyway. Garbage clumped to the walls like glue every corner we took.
The man moved around so he was now facing me. Oh, how I want to spit in his face.
I pushed my thoughts away as he, rather harshly, undid the tight restraints on my wrists. Looking me in the eyes he said,
"You know what to do". Fighting the urge to head bunt him, I calmly nodded my head.

"Listen up," he yelled, turning to the others.
"This guy is blonde, curly, has blue eyes, about 5'11" and has a symbol tattoo on his wrist."

"You!" Pointing his finger in my face, while sending me a look of disgust.
"You use your powers wisely...or you know what's going to happen." My body tensed at the thought of them hurting my little brother. Softening my face, I gave him another nod without looking him in the eyes. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing my weakness.
"Now go," he practically spat. I turned and ran. I would do whatever they wanted as long as they didn't lay a finger on him. I didn't turn back, not wanting to see his evil smirk any longer.
Stopping abruptly I was almost out of breath. All right it's time. Observing my surroundings, I took in the people that littered the streets. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes listening intently to every movement of each soul around me. The whispers erupted in my head.
I slowed everything. Every sound, step, every swipe of a hand, each voice, and I carefully listened.
I just listened.
I could feel the power surging through my body, like a wave on the ocean. Craning my head slightly, desperately I tried  to hear everyone's thoughts.
There! Thrusting my eyes open, I broke into an immediate run, bursting through the continuous crowds of people.
Meeting up at an end and rounding a corner, I stopped so suddenly I felt my heart lurch forward in my chest. Intent blue eyes stared into my own. His curly tipped hair waved gently in the breeze as the rest of his body was covered in a dark cloak. Focussing my eyes, I tried reading his thoughts trying to get a hint of something, ready to take control....when everything went blank.
A gasp slipped from my mouth.
        "How-". He was gone.
No! That was him, it had to be. But how did he shut away his thoughts? That's never happened before.
Furrowing my brows in wonder, I tried to find the blonde once again. I began whipping my body around in a full circle, over and over again. No! Dammit!
I jerked to a sudden stop and my body froze. I felt as if I were numb. A voice awoke in my head
"Come with me...I know what you are." It was deep and masculine.
"Stop! W-who are you? Get out of my head!" I practically yelled to the voice in my head.
"It's okay!" He almost sounded...sincere?
"I'm not here to hurt you, relax. Just breathe." I calmed myself down. A little.
Finally I ask "H-how do I know you won't hurt me?"
"I promise I won't hurt you. Listen I'll explain everything  to you. But first you need to know....you're not alone".
The world around me slowed and my heart seemed to beat out of my chest as I registered his words.
I'm not alone? Who knew three simple words would change my life forever.
