An: I'm soooo sorry! I've been so distracted with school, they just won't give me a break with all these assignments.😩 Anyways I'll try to get back on track with the story and again I'm so sorry! All love!😘

My feet shuffled quietly against the ground, as I made my way through the calm lively forest.  Birds were singing while the shadows cast themselves upon the wet grass, slowly creeping towards me. But my mind was elsewhere. The silence. This peace. I've never felt anything like this before. I took slow strides wanting to breathe in as much of the fresh air as possible. The neighboring trees surrounding me were dressed in the morning dew, as they swayed slightly from the silent wind. As the colours that I'd come to know encircled me, my eyes searched the longing trees, trying to grasp onto the way they gracefully waved their frailing branches. It was almost as if they were waving hello, greeting me as the bright sun rose high above the mountain peaks, starting a new day. A new life.
I'd been wandering the forest for longer than I had pondered. Entering the camp, the cabin rested in the clearing with smoke rising peacefully from the chimney. I've been here for about two weeks now. The days seemed to fly by and I was finally feeling what little taste of freedom I had, however I just couldn't get 'them' out of my head. I often awoke in the night covered in sweat, as tears stained my red cheeks. No matter how hard I tried, the painful memories always found away into my head,  there was no way to escape.
"Harper! Where did you go? We were worried sick." Looking ahead, I see Jax making his way towards me with long strides.
"Jax? I-I went for a walk...I just wanted to clear my head for a minute." He let out a sigh of relief as if he'd actually been worried.
"Ugh...Where's Jer?" I asked, looking around us trying to spot his head of brown hair. .
"He's just in the cabin..Come on let's go." He nodded his head in the other direction, gesturing for me to follow. I agreed as we slowly made our way back to the cabin. Reaching the front door, Jax held it open for me coming in after.
"Jer?" I called. Walking towards the tap, I wash my hands under the cold water, then applying them over my face. I turned around, when I heard the pitter-patter of feet wandering towards me.
"Harper!" Before I could respond, he jumped into my arms wrapping his hands around my neck. "Where were you?" He pushed the hair out of his face once I put him back down and stared at me intently, waiting for my answer.
"I was just going for a walk. I'm sorry if I worried you." I hugged him again, trying to reassure what I was saying. "The both of you." I looked up at Jax as he gave me a warm smile.
I heard Jer sigh quietly.
"It's okay....just let me come with you next time?" I laughed loudly from his enthusiasm, I heard  Jax join in as well.
"Course buddy! Now why don't we eat something and fill that little belly of yours?" He nodded happily at my comment, dragging me over to the table where we set ourselves down.

It was dark out. The moon hung low, and the stars littered the dark sky endlessly. I couldn't get myself to fall asleep. Once again my mind had been consumed by them. They devoured my every thought. What if they find us again? What if they hurt Jer and Jax. I j-just can't let that happen. Looking at the sky I closed my eyes, trying to think of something else. Anything else.
"Harper? What are you doing out here?" I turned, startled at first but relaxed when I realized it was just Jax.
"I'm just getting a bit of fresh air," I replied. He walked over and stood beside me, looking up at the sky. I turned to look at him, he was gazing up staring at the stars, his hair swaying slightly from the warm breeze.
"Ugh Jax..I never really got to say thank you....for saving me, and rescuing my brother....Thanks for everything." He studied me searchingly for a minute. I could feel his eyes cursing into my own before he finally said, "Of course. I mean I couldn't just leave you guys there." I chuckled softly.
"Yeah." I smiled back at him. Silence settled between the two of us, as we took in the peaceful night. Suddenly a twig snapped in the distance. We both jumped as it interrupted our tranquility.
"Jax?....What was that?" I looked at him, clearly frightened.
"I don't know...stay here I'll be right ba-" He was about to head forward when a bang erupted towards us, the silver led whipping past, barely missing Jax before he tumbled behind a tree a couple feet away from me.
"Jax!" I screamed. "Are you okay?" I was so worried I didn't realize that I'd started running towards him.
"Harper no!" Before I could reach him, he jumped towards me, pushing me to the ground right as more shots were fired. It was echoing through the once peaceful night while the ground and trees shattered and burst like bombs. He hurriedly lifted me up, pushing me behind a tree, protecting me from being harm. No! How did they find us?
"Harper...you have to go get Jer and get out of here." I looked at him in confusion, furrowing my brows.
"What...No! W-what about you?" Holding me tightly, his hands were holding both sides of my head as he looked at me seriously.
"I'll be fine...I promise. Now you have to go and get him out of here. Go hide somewhere until it's safe!" He yelled, shoving me towards the cabin, but I couldn't focus or think with the ruckus that exploded around us. Shaking my head violently, I sent him pleading looks. No no no!
"No! No! Jax! We can't leave you...w-what if-"
"GOOO!" I jumped back, startled from his outburst. "You have no choice Harper...Now go!" My breathing was shallow, as my chest heaved violently. I didn't realize I was crying until a whimper escaped my mouth.
"Please Harper....go." Searching his captivating eyes I only found concern as he begged me and before I could stop myself, I ran into his arms. I felt him tense up from our sudden contact but I held him tight, afraid that if I let go he would disappear forever.  Eventually he responded by wrapping his arms around me, resting his head in the crook of my neck. I just wanted to stay here forever. I just felt safe. But I knew I had to go. I had to find Jer before it's too late. Before I released my tight grasp, I whispered to him.
"Please be safe." Letting go, I back away slowly. He nodded his head at me, as if to tell me it was okay.
Swiping my hand over my cheek, I wiped away the fresh tears that covered my cheeks. turning, I ran.
Feeling a burst of energy strike through me, I could still hear the bullets echoing through the woods. I'm coming Jer!
Pushing myself, I ran as fast as I could, ducking under branches, and jumping over the fallen trees and stumps that scattered the forest ground.
Atlast I made it to the cabin, bursting through the door without a second thought.
"Jer! Jer!"  I ran into our room, to find him awake, staring at me with tears in his eyes.
"Harper!" he cried. Jumping into me I gave him a tight squeeze.
"Alright..It's okay! I'm going to get you out of here." I said soothingly, trying to calm him down. He nodded his head, taking my hand in his, I hurriedly rushed him out the back door and we both immediately broke into a run, listening to the loud gunshots behind us. Jax..

I could feel the sweat dripping from my forehead, as my gut throbbed from my side ache.
I didn't let go of Jer. I knew I couldn't stop until I knew he was safe.
When the noise seemed to fall far behind us, I found a hollow stump, big enough for the both of us to fit. Sitting him down inside. Holding him in my arms, I could feel him crying against me.
"Shhh...It's okay Jer..We're safe," I told him, trying to convince myself as well.
I don't know how long we'd been waiting but eventually Jer fell asleep in my arms, while I still sat waiting.
Waiting for nothing in the raw silence.
