A Theory I Have

Hey Cheesecicles! Sooo, I have a theory that could possibly be a headcanon! Here it is!

'Some of the characters have PTSD'

Okie so, let me explain! The turtles have been through a lot throughout the series with the invasion, Splinter's death, and season 5 in a nutshell...I think the turtles may have mild signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.

Leo has it because after Splinter's death, all the pressure of being sensei was put on him. Not to mention the invasion, the coma, and being mind controlled by Jei in the Usagi episode. Leo seems to show mild signs of it, which is understandable.

Raph and Donnie don't seem to show as many signs of it, but I imagine that must have it after watching Splinter literally get impaled in front of them...I mean, did you see Raph's face during the death scene?

Mikey most likely has it too. After what happened with the pizza faces, parasitic wasps, squirrelenoids, and other stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have PTSD...

The turtles had to watch their father get stabbed right in front of them....I'm sure that must have caused some sort of trauma. Long story short, the turtles have been through shell and might possibly have PTSD.

Now for April...I think she might have very mild signs of PTSD. April hasn't been through as much as the turtles, but she did witness her father become mutated and try to eat her which in turn gave her a fear of bats....she also faced the loss of her mother at s young age and had to deal with being away from her father, her only family, for presumably several months.

Though, April witnessed Splinter's death as well so that might have given her a bit of trauma since, as we can see in the series, April looked up to Splinter as a father figure, and him dying hurt. A lot.

Now for Kirby. Okay, he's a psychiatrist. He knows all about the different mental health disorders. Does he have PTSD? It's hard to say...let's dive into his background a bit!

His wife vanished, presumably being turned into an alien. I'm sure this left some sort of mark on him, leading him to be super overprotective of April, since she's the only family he had left...well, besides his friends.

Although...he was abducted and held hostage by the Kraang not once, but twice. Who knows what that constant imprisonment did to him? He was also mutated twice. This must have been kind of, in a way, traumatizing.

However, does Kirby remember his mutations? Splinter recalled his quite well, so it's a possibility that Kirby had some memory of his mutation as well as the time he spent as a bat.

Also, it is shown before the invasion that Mr. O' Neil showed signs of trauma, including recurring nightmares, which were most likely caused by his imprisonment. Not to mention the months he spent away from his daughter. Think about what he was thinking during that time.

Casey, I don't think has PTSD. He has a fear of rats, but doesn't appear to show any signs. I don't think Karai does either, even though Splinter's death took a toll on her.

Now for Splinter. Ah, Splinter. Yes he's been through some ride. We all know his backstory. Does he have PTSD? I don't think so. Although, he did watch his wife get stabbed and die right in front of him in a burning building.

Maybe he has slight PTSD. Just a little. But Splinter is a strong character. He would be able to focus his inner mind away from those darkened thoughts and block them out from his memory.

So, to wrap this up, Mikey, Leo, and Kirby definitely have PTSD. Casey, April, Leo, Donnie and Splinter might have very mild signs.

Remember, this is my own opinion, I don't know if that's is true or not, I am just going based off of the facts and my own knowledge of the show!

Thanks for reading!
