Narrator
As these past memories went through Shoto's mind, he covered his scar with his palm, his self-confidence leaving once again. He may be strong, but his emotions stay the same. He isn't strong mentally, he is still suffering. He doesn't know if he would be able to get past the childhood trauma. It was horrifying... it changes you for the rest of your life.
Shoto was home alone. Actually, in the apartment him and Denki rented a couple of months ago. It was quiet. Way too quiet, but it's way better in this annoyingly quiet place than hearing Bakugou's headaching yell all over the dorms. In a moment like this, he could hear him, bringing a few, better memories back... replacing the old, scary ones.
He was sitting on the couch, in front of the recently closed TV. The same old news with the bad guys and other heroes handling it. He wishes he could be out there, but after the latest incident, where he was almost killed, he had to retire for a couple of weeks. He almost lost his powers in that fight, still leads to exhaustion if used before the term of going back at the hero job. In that matter of time, he was wondering where his boyfriend could be. There are still things going on outside. The silence was suddenly broken by a happy Denki, busting the door open and having three bags of groceries in his arms.
" Babe! I'm home! " — he spoke cheerfully, as his voice echoed through the walls of the hallway behind him. The moment Denki's was heard, so was Shoto's happiness growing. Even though there are moments his serotonin isn't working, that boy is all he needs. He stands up from the couch and rushes over to the entrance door. The moment Denki put down the bags, Shoto cupped his cheeks and analyzed him carefully with a frown on his face." What took you long? Did you see what's outside? Are you hurt? "
Denki was utterly confused. His soft cheeks being lowkey ' crushed ' in his boyfriend's cold hands. He noticed Shoto's look and blushed, bursting out laughing, still not realizing what he meant. He didn't see any villain attacks near, nor knows about them. It was his free time. It were minor attacks though, that were handled by other heroes.
" What are you talking about? Of course I'm okay, silly! Why wouldn't I be? " — he replied, placing his own hands on Shoto's face, pulling him close to peck his lips. — " I love you. Now come on, let's make some food! I bought a bunch of stuff! "
" You mean... I'll cook the food, you just stay and watch. " Shoto corrected him, because he doesn't know how to cook.
" Yeah, you're right here! I can't even make some eggs. But, it's nice watching you cook, Todo darling! You should teach me one day! "
They joked, teased, laughed, typical Denki ramble and Shoto listening without ever getting bored of that.
The food was finished and they could finally eat. Shoto shrugged off his negative thoughts, listening to all of the things Denki has to tell him in that moment. Even though he isn't the best at holding conversations, he is good at listening. He loves listening to people and their stories or moods. It somehow makes him feel important; a trustworthy person. But especially, he loves listening to his boyfriend's daily talk. It makes him happier than ever. After they finish their food, they help each other with the dishes then walk to the living room, sit on the couch and Denki with his legs on Shoto's lap as they were cuddling. The TV was on, a random show going on. Everything else was quiet, except for the device. Suddenly, a voice was heard.
" Hey, Shoto? " — Denki asked, his cheerful tone turning into a serious one. He got a glance in return, with a barely visible smile. — " Out of all the people out there... Why did you choose me? "
Shoto sighed, placing his hand on Denki's head, stroking his hair in a gentle, careful manner. — " We talked about this. "" I know, but you never gave me a proper reason why... I want to hear more from you... " Denki replied.
Shoto wasn't the best at expressing his feelings in words, but actions. Actions matter more to him than the words, but perhaps it was the time to go the other way, too.
" Denki Kaminari. The one boy that didn't get very much attention from others ended up and graduated in a relationship with the hottest and strongest boy from class 3A; Shoto Todoroki- " —Shoto quoted the words of another student, which made Denki feel slightly confused. —"-he ended up with him, and accepted him. They fell in love with a reason that's very important to Shoto. "Denki was all ears and eyes to his boyfriend, being really curious, yet nervous of what he is about to say.
" I fell for you the moment you began to let your emotions out more, to be more honest with yourself. I fell for you because something told me that the pain you're going through is something I would be able to understand. Everyone treated you like you were on a low level. You ' never ' studied so you had bad grades, but I could have noticed that you were struggling. You were trying your best. In the end you did it. It felt like... your struggles are my struggles. And I felt the urge to help you. Not with studying, but with presence. I wanted to be there for you and I didn't know why but I just did. It felt like we would have understood each other. Hiding your pain behind fake happiness and fake positivity. I wanted to be the one to help you come out with your feelings. Even though I'm the type of person I get vented to, yours were the ones missing. It didn't feel complete. I didn't feel complete. I needed someone like you in my life. A partner that would let me help them, and that would want to help me. I fell for you because you're you. You're honest self, funny self. Even in your bad moments. You're just you. "
Denki was speechless. — " S-Shoto, I... "
" I love you. "
