I have no idea where I am or where I'm running. After I bursted out of the dining hall, I'm met by endless dark and shallow hallways. That doesn't matter, I had to get away from that insane man.
After a while of running through what felt like a maze, I stopped for a breath. The hallway I stopped in was long and murky. It was so cold and the ends of my dress was torn. There was a bit of illumination coming from a torch up ahead. I've been running so long I lost my way. "Where am I?" I whispered to myself. I quickly looked back to where I ran from but it was too dark to see anything. I can't even remember which halls I ran in from. How will I get back if I don't remember the path? "Cmon Persephone, you can remember. I'm sure if you see the halls, you can remember which ones you took" I reassured myself. I turned back and headed for the torch that gave me light. It was all the way at the end of the hall which seemed so far away, so I lifted my dress and ran once again. My shoes must have slipped off while I ran because now my feet were bare and cold.
As I got to the end of the hallway, closer to the torch, I discovered another hallway to the left of me. "Ugh, another hall?" I whined. The torch was being held by a torchbearer that was attached to the walls. The torchbearer was rusty and filled with webs. It probably hasn't been cleaned in ages. "How's it still burning, if it's been so long?" I whispered. "It must be one of those everlasting torches my mom had in her room." I thought. Oh how I miss her room. My mothers room was filled with all types of crops and flowers. Her room always smelled of Honeysuckle. "I wonder what she's doing now" I pondered as I grabbed the torch and slid off the walls, onto the concrete. My knees at my chest, I cried for what felt like hours but was probably just a couple of minutes. The torch was still lit and hot, it was mesmerizing. It kinda reminded me of my mother. She was always so feisty and she could never be put out. In that moment, I don't know what came over me but I had to touch the fire. "It looks so warm and safe" I reassured myself.
Just as I was about to burn my fingertips, I heard a loud creak coming from the hallway to the left. Immediately, I stood up with torch in one hand and a fist in the other. I saw illumination begin to grow around the surrounding walls, someone had opened a door at the end of the hall. I had no intention of being found so I slowly set the torch back on the torchbearer and ran back in the direction I came from.
I ran and ran. I couldn't even see where, there was no light. Yes, I hit my head a couple times but I didn't care. I will keep running until I find a way out of this hellhole. Just as I was a second away from successfully hiding. "Are you done?" I heard someone say. I immediately stopped running. That voice was a little too close. I've been alone this whole time as far as I knew. "Maybe I'm just hearing things.", either way, I can't stop moving. Just as I was about to run again, I slammed my head into something else. This hurt way more than the walls I slammed into earlier. At least, when I slammed into them, I knew that there was a possibility of impact. Now, it was unexpected and startling. It felt like I dented my skull. I fell back onto the cold floor. "Ouch, that hurt" a familiar voice said. "You really should be more careful" Hades whispered right before I blacked out...again!
