A FEW HOURS LATER...

The distress was evident. The deep frowns and long faces standing by the corridor of the long hall, waiting for the final hope to be shattered. The principal came out and shook his head.

'Things went wrong, very wrong. No, it was too perfect,' Meranda thought.

The crowd dissipated and she stood behind the pillar. She was waiting to calm down her senses when suddenly someone tapped her on her shoulder. She instantly turned around and saw the principal holding out a yellow piece of paper to her. She took it immediately and he left silently. She opened her letter-

Dearest Merry,

Life is funny and hard. Being born as a forlorn child, deprived of any parental love, I was naturally very arrogant. My grandparents were rich and I became a spoilt child. I was a narcissist until you came around. You made me bite my tongue and even dared to backlash. I was amazed at your audacity. The chemistry was good but not a promised one. With you, I knew it going to be deep. I liked the depth and the way I could swim in them. But how can you play if you are being chased by a bloodhound shark? To prevent clear water from getting bloody, I had to swim away from the deep waters to the shore. The blame is on me and my fate. I was born with a degenerative congenital disorder. Maybe that is why I was abandoned.

Don't cry. David is really a good guy. Believe me. He had no evil intentions. Maybe it was a twist of fate that something happened. Don't hate him for such trifling matters. He is meant to be with you.

                                                                                                                                              Mr. Trouble.

ONE YEAR LATER...

The campus was bustling. The movements were frantic and hurried. The students were finally receiving their graduation caps and certificates. They were ecstatic and the possibilities of a new life that lay ahead of them made them excited. It was a proud moment for them. With the certificates in their hands and a smiling face, they walked hand in hand with their family members. The homecoming was definitely worth the anticipation.

Meranda stood at the gate and remembered the day she entered it. It was probably the last time; she will ever see her parents. She slowly pulled out a rough yellow paper from her black overcoat and ruefully smiled at it. She looked up to the clear sky and sighed heavily. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her arms.

She said, 'Where are you going now, David?'

'I don't know. Probably to the west. I want to leave the past. It is too terrible to keep anything as a memoir,' He sighed as he stood next to her; tall, slender, and elegant.

'I don't know what I will do either.'

'If you don't know, why don't you come with me? We can stay together. Isn't this what Rudy wanted?' He looked at her earnestly.

Meranda looked ahead with tears in her eyes for a moment. She took a deep breath and turned towards him.

She smiled brightly and nodded.
