It felt like everyone was looking at me. They probably were, it's not every day the 'good girl' gets caught passing notes.
Luckily, Ms Adams isn't the type to read notes out in class. Even luckier, there was a distraction.
The door swung open and in slithered the longest Furby you have ever seen. It was beautiful, it's- he's the most attractive thing you have ever seen.
"Excuse me?" Ms Adams screeches. "Who are you."
"Furbert Long." He says, sounding bored out of his mind "Can I sit down now?"
Ms Adams makes an 'O' shape with her mouth before quickly recovering. "Mr Long! Would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" I certainly hope he would, you want to know more about this mysterious long boy.
"No thanks." He says and makes his way towards the only open seat, next to me.
Zoe, my best friend, follows my gaze onto Furbert. I think I see her shake her head in the corner of my eye. I think I know why, it's because Furbert doesn't look like the kind of guy her father, the chief of police, would approve of.
Furbert must have felt my gaze as he looked in my direction and gave me what must have been a wink. I felt my face heat as I quickly looked away.
I thought heard Zoe scoff, but when I turned to face her she just shot me a bright smile. Her signature smile, that charms everyone. Even you're not immune, although you'd never admit that.
The rest of the class passes in a blur as you divide your attention between starting longingly at Furbert and laughing with Zoe. After class, when youre walking down the hall you realise something. "Zoe, I think I left my book in class."
"Oh! I'll get it for you." She smiles at you.
You shake your head, "I don't want you to be late on my account." She gives you an odd look and you remember that it's lunch, but you run off anyway. You're just hoping you'll catch Furbert on his way out, as he was told to stay back for acting up in class.
You reach the door and stop when you see Furbert through the glass in the door. He's talking to someone you can't see.
"What do you mean?" I heard Furbert say, and then I heard a muffled voice say something I couldn't hear. "So, we have to speed up the plan."
There's a pause and you assume the other person is talking. "Of course we can, now you need to leave. Can you get out the window?"
I heard the window open and I saw Furbert walk to the centre of the room. I counted to five and quickly entered the room.
"Hiding behind a glass pane? Not a smart idea." Furbert says as I walk in, startling me.
"I-"
"Was Little miss perfect eavesdropping?" He gasps in mock surprise
"No, no, it's nothing like that!" I say, trying to defend myself.
"Oh, really?" He says, a smirk growing on his lips. "You weren't standing outside the door, listening intently, trying to figure out what was going on?"
"What? N-no." I say as he stalks closer, pushing me up against the wall with nonexistent arms and psychic powers. He smirks, leaning towards me, beak nearing my mouth. But he stops.
"Tell me the truth and I'll tell you what we were talking about." He says. You feel his breath like a ghost on your lips. Your breath hitches and you don't know what to do.
And then, the door opens.
