And then, the door opens.

You hear a gasp, and you turn to see Zoe by the open door. Furbert gives her what probably was meant to be a wave, but he doesn't have arms, and slithers back from you, letting you off the wall.

You stay on the wall, trying to get your breath back when you catch Zoe watching you with a dark look in her eye that you can't decipher.

You push yourself off the wall, accidentally bumping into Zoe, who you think you hear a gasp. A different type of gasp this time, but yet another indecipherable thing.

You head towards your desk and see your book placed in the middle of it. You grab it with a nervous chuckle as you notice Zoe is still looking at you, but now with an odd smile. It looks like she's trying to flash you her usual grin, but has something else on her mind. You wonder what it could be.

"Let's go get lunch." She says, breaking the oddly comfortable silence.

"Alright!" You say cheerfully, your'e hungry.

As you walk to the cafeteria, you can't help but sneak glances at Zoe. Youre wondering what's going on in her head, as she's being unusually quiet. You consider asking her about it but nah, because this is just me gaslighting you.

And then it suddenly strikes you how pretty she is. Like, classic hot blonde girl blue eyes but make it ✨Bisexual✨ because representation.

And then the school day is over because Zoe Cadwell sounding like the whitest sounding ever said so.

After school, you and Zoe hang out at her house, in her bedroom. She walks in with some snacks and closes the door behind her. She pops a piece of gum in her mouth because for some reason she didn't bring any to school today.

"What projects do you have due?" I ask as I hear the door shut.

"Biology, history, English and, oh, you know, all of them." She laughs. "I'm such a procrastinator, haha, it's ridiculous."

"Do you need any help with them?" I inquire as she sits down.

"Really? You'd help me? You're suck an angel!"

"What are best friends for, eh?" I query, as a rhetorical question.

At the words, best friends, Zoe's smile falters, but only for a split second and you think you're imagining me.

After a while of working on projects, and chewing gum almost obsessively, in Zoe's case, you two decide to take a break.

"Do you want to go downstairs and watch cooking shows for a little bit?" I question as I watch her finish writing a sentence in her almost too elegant looming handwriting.

She looks up with a smile, with definitely too white trash, and nods eagerly. "That sounds great, why don't we watch The Greatest Boxing Bake Off™, that new show where contestants have to fight for the ingredients!"

"Is that legal?" I challenge.

"Oh, it's in the contract, probably."

You nod, "That makes it all perfectly okay."

After binging the entire first season of The Greatest Boxing Bake Off™, you two realise that you're tired, and probably aren't going to get more work done today. Either that or you're procradtinating.

Zoe is currently sprawled out over the couch with her head in your lap and you instinctively run your hand through her hair. What? It's totally platonic.

She checks her phone and gasps at something. She gasps a lot, so you can't really be sure. Then she shows you the time. "Wow, the entire first season of The Greatest Boxing Bake Off™ was really long." She chuckles.

"Yes, and apparently the contestants did not know about the boxing part."

You two have a very platonic and totally not long enough to be a gay bit of eye contact, and then you two are kissing.

I don't really know what happened, one moment we were platonically cuddling, or whatever, and then we were not so platonically smashing out faces together, and I didn't mind it at all.

We pulled back because breathing's a thing, y'know, and I saw a face in the window. "Oh look, there's a face in the window." I pointed out.

Zoe turns around and nods scaredly, "It is indeed a face in the window, you are correct." she says, speaking as formally as she does when she gets scared.
