It's been a couple months of highschool. I'm that type of loser who has friends, but not a friend group. I'm not entirely sure how that works, but I guess it happens cause I'm me? Honestly, high schools been a breeze for me. I feel like other freshman's get terrified, but I already know upperclassmen. I knew them before I even started going to highschool.
"This worksheet is due at the end of class. If your trying to improve your grade, this will really help so PLEASE turn it in" my math teacher, Ms. Wilson says. I can tell she's desperate, no one in this class pays attention or does anything.
I start working on my worksheet and pop in an ear bud so I can listen to music. I want to ignore the extremely loud and annoying people besides me.
A couple minutes into doing the worksheet, the door opens. I look in that direction out of curiosity and a girl is standing next to a man. He begins talking to Ms. Wilson about who knows what so I look back at the girl who is observing the classroom. She looks familiar so I don't think she's new. Soon her eyes found me and we make eye contact for a bit. Out of embarrassment, I look away.
The seat next to mine is empty so it's no wonder Ms. Wilson sets her down next to me. Turns out, she's just switching classes for some reason. I continue to mind my business and do my worksheet as she's being caught up. Ms. Wilson also gives her a worksheet and she gets started.
At some point, she stops writing and just stares off into space. She seems to come back into reality and just looks around the class again.
She faces me, "do the kids in here ever shut up?" She had no sarcasm in that sentence. She was genuinely confused. She said it so calmly that I was thrown off completely.
"No, you'll get used to it," I say a bit overwhelmed.
"Great," her eyes rolls and she sighs. She turns back forward and continues to write.
I do the last problem on the worksheet and turn it in. I finished early so there's pretty much nothing for me to do now. I mess around on my phone waiting for the class to end. The girl next to me also finishes her worksheet and turns it in. When she comes back, she sits there doing nothing for a while and looks at me again.
"So, what's your name?" She says smiling at me.
"Trey"
"I'm Scar, I know, weird name" she says awkwardly.
"Well, I got a weird one too. I mean seriously. Who name's there child Trey?" She giggles a bit and smiles brightly. The bell rings and disrupts our conversation. We both start packing and head out the door. Another day of school, done.
