Read on, lovely people. :)
That name sounded extremely familiar, where have I heard that? I took his hand and he gripped mine softly yet firm, almost as if he were afraid he would break it.
"Hi Travis," I smiled, "what is that short for, travesty?" I teased.
His smile looked genuine but sarcastic, "Technically, yes, since travesty does mean misinterpreted and that's exactly what you've done with me." He paused. "Is there anything else you'd like to say before I continue?" He looked serious.
"Uh..nope. That's all the 'playfulness' I have left in me, today is a serious workday. Especially for you Luca -- I like that better than Travis." I grinned.
His face instantly fell the minute I said, Luca. He shifted his feet and looked at them, clearly uncomfortable.
"Um, just Travis or Trav, please. I don't really let people... ," he trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh. Im sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I'll just stick to Travis or Trav, it's cute anyways." I smiled, trying to lift the mood because I felt bad for probably, unknowingly, touching a sore subject.
Of course he took the opportunity to flirt,
"So you think I'm cute, huh?" He smirked, arrogantly. God, this guy can switch moods faster than a pregnant, bipolar woman.
I rolled my eyes, "Sure, now let's get started, yeah?"
"Ok. But just to clarify, that wasn't a no?" He winked.
"It wasn't a yes either, sweetheart. Lets not get a big head, not that it isn't the size of your ass already." I teased.
"Ooh, sweetheart? I like it, although, sexy or baby sounds more appealing. And I take you've been checking out my ass, huh. Hey, I ain't judging." He chucked.
"No! I haven't." I lied terribly, my cheeks burning a deep shade of pink.
"Can't say I can say the same.." He winked.
"You're such a man-child... ," I groaned, rolling my eyes.
Then, I realized he still hadn't explained what he, so desperately, wanted to. I'm wasting so much time on this guy already, ugh. Hiring him would be a big mistake, but then again, I'm the definition of mistakes, according to some people in my family.
"so what was it that you wanted to explain to me?" I continued.
His smile faded and a look of seriousness took control of his face,
"Well, see the thing is...um. I don't exactly have a résumé, because, well I don't exactly have anything to put on, said, résumé." He scratched at the back of his neck.My mind was trying to wrap around what he had just said, "What? What are you trying to say? Just spit it out, already."
He sighed and looked me straight in my eyes, "I've never had a job." He let out.
What the fück? This little shît here, just wasted my time on one of my most important days! I knew I shouldn't have given him the time of day, I could just strangle the shit out of him, although, it probably wouldn't even faze him at all, hell, he'd probably even laugh!
My hands turned into hard balls of fury, ready to knock someone out, him in particular. He crossed the line here, out of all the things he's said today, this topped the list of dumb shit.
I gritted my teeth and stared daggers into his eyes,
"Get. Out." I spit.
He put his hands on the counter,
"Wait. Please, you said you would try to understand, just let me explain."
I stared at him, unsure of what I should do. I mean, he never had a job ever In his life, in what world does it seem reasonable to hire him? But God, does he look hot, begging, maybe I'll make him beg just a little longer before sending him on his way. Serves him right, leading me on like that.
"Please," He pleaded with eyes completely vulnerable "I'll get on my knees." He pulled the puppy eyes out.
Well..him on his knees would be quite a show, in fact I could think if a few things he could while he's down there... I made him suffer long enough I guess,
"Ok. Continue."
He looked relieved and sighed, "Good, thank you. So like I was saying, I've never had a job, but not by choice. You see my father, he forbade me from finding myself one." He paused as if he was waiting for questions.
"Really," I asked not truly believing that. "what kind of overprotective, father do you have?"
"Well if you must know, he's the CEO of Bellmont Enterprises,"
'What the hell?'
"And I'm the 'heir' to it all."
