We sat in the adoption center. They were bringing Josh out for us to see. Mitch was so excited in the car but once he stepped foot in this room, he suddenly got nervous. He sat next to me now playing with his sweaty hands.

"Alright men. Josh will be out soon. Any questions regarding adoption?"

Mitch leaned forward, "Yeah. How old is Josh?"

The woman chuckled, "He's 3 months old."

"Oh. So when we adopt him, he can't be taken away from us right? Like, if his birth mother turns up asking for him after we've adopted him, she can't take him away."

"Correct. But since you have no other parents involved, your adoption will go by smoothly and fast. No worries." There was a knock on the door. A woman stepped in holding Josh and I heard a little gasp come from Mitch.

"Here's Josh." The woman said, handing him to Mitch.

"He's so beautiful, Scott."

"Yeah he is." I watched as Mitch stared at Josh as if no one else mattered in that moment.

"I want to ask you guys a question." Mitch looked up from Josh and looked at the woman. She smiled at him and proceeded, "Would you wanna take him for a weekend visit? It'd be like a test."

"I don't see any problems with it." I stated. Mitch didn't answer so I looked over at him. He was staring at Josh again, "Mitch." He looked up.

"What? Oh sorry. What was the question."

"She asked if we would want to have Josh stay for a weekend."

"I don't see any problems with it." He looked back down again.

"It's settled then. What weekend is best for you?"

"Any weekend."

"This upcoming. It's Saturday now so this next Friday."

"Perfect."
