Julie and the Phantoms Fanfiction - Rated T - Romance/Hurt/Comfort
Dancing with a Ghost
A/N: hi guyssssss!1 so I recently watched Julie and the Phantoms on Netflix (it is so so so so good so if you've come here after reading my other work then you neeeeeeeeeed to watch it before reading this fic!! ...what are you still doing here??? Go watch it!!!). but anyway I am rambling!!! So this is what I imagine happening after the events of season one! I got too impatient to actually wait for season 2 to happen. For those of you who noticed the title of this fic is the name of a Valencia song which are like my FAVVVV band at the moment.
A/N: oh and trigger warning for school shootings and shootings in general!!
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS OR ORIGIONAL STORY THEY BELONG TO NETFLIX
Chapter 1
Julie POV
It has been 3 weeks since our performance at the Orpheum, the same night that Luke, Reggie, and Alex's bond to the living strengthened. Things have been pretty crazy around here! Especially now that everyone can see the guys. At first we tried to keep them hidden with me and Flynn sneaking them food (you have no idea how much three teenage boys eat! Let alone ones who haven't eaten for 25 years!) but eventually papi found out. He grumbled at first but we have come to an agreement. Luke, Reggie, and Alex can live with us as long as they enrol in school and graduate high school. After that we will be free to chase our musical dreams! But until then – school comes first.
Reggie POV
I am just living the life of a king these days! Hanging out with my buddy Ray. We're really bonding now that this friendship is not one sided anymore! Like right now – we are hanging out while he cooks dinner
"So Reggie, are you excited for your first day of school tomorrow?" he asks me.
I think for a second "...I am not nervous per se, just anxious with anticipation!"
He looks at me with suspicion "that's the same thing as nerves.. are you okay?"
"oh I know, I just want to sound clever so they don't realise I haven't been to school in 25 yea- I mean 2 months" Ray doesn't know that we died in the street hotdog incident. We thought it would be too complicated.
Ray smiles at me "oh I am sure you will be fine, just be yourself... Son". Tears gather in my eyes and threaten to spill over. I can see Ray is getting emotional too but he looks away quickly as Carlos enters the room.
"Wazzap ma gringa!" he directs towards me, earning a scowl from ...our... father (it still feels weird but so right to call him that!!) I know that racist comment is going to earn Carlos 14, maybe 15 lashings, but I don't mind too much because it means I have overtaken him as the favourite son (no chance of Alex or Luke overtaking me because they acting like they've only been invited to live here temporarily when we all know that although those may have been the words used, that underlying meaning is that if we want to be adopted forever, the offer is open. It took a little while for Ray to realise this is what he meant too but we got there in the end).
I bonk Carlos on the head with the blunt edge of a knife because brothers wrestle right? And I am keen to impress Ray and show that I am valid and authentic member of this family. Just call me Reggie Manila! I mean Monila... Molina? I don't know!
Julie POV
"okay boys. This is school, people can see you know so remember your social norms! Reception is that way – they'll register you for your classes and give you your timetable. Once we get through the day we can get back to practising in the garage!" I shoo the boys off into the right direction and Luke gives me a lingering look before moving on. Plenty of longing looks follow my favourite Himbos from all the straight girls and every boy (homo and straight alike).
