I know what I looked like to all these powerful people, father had made me out to be too young and immature. Even if they had cared about what really happened the day of the test, my immaturity would not make for a good gamma.
I had let my mask break and for what?
I wouldn't dare look at any of the Alphas in the room, my embarrassment was too much. My eyes settled on the empty chair at the head of the table, the spot that was reserved for the Cruel Alpha.
I had never seen the man before but I knew his name, everyone did. We just never said it. He was know as the Cruel Alpha, or the Cruel One. He was the Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack. They were known for their cruel acts, hence the nickname. The Bloodmoon Pack always stayed away, never coming to any mating balls, or ceremonies. Only to whatever he felt was worth his time, and seeing some lying wolf become gamma was not one of them.
The ceremony seemed to drag on. My eyes were almost completely closed before Bellamy knocked into me. He pointed his finger ahead, silently telling me to pay attention. I love my brother but I wanted nothing more to break that stupid finger.
Bellamy had always been the responsible one. He always had a mental checklist of what needed to be done, and he always completed it. When we were children, Bell would sit to the side and read while the rest of us played. Wrestling and roughhousing wasn't his thing.
I admired that about him; His intellect and his determination. However, he was still my annoying brother. Being mature for his age didn't stop him from picking on me or pushing me around. After all, bothering me was something my brothers all liked to do.
Before I could contemplate harming my brother, the door slammed open. The power that radiates the room grew immense as our new guest strolled in. It almost felt hard to breathe as his scent hit me.
Cinnamon.
I was allergic to the spice and absolutely hated the strong smell, yet in this one moment, it was intoxicating. The smell was overwhelming my senses; I needed more.
His steps echoed the room as he made his way to the empty chair I had once stared at. It was now his blue eyes that I stared at.
One could compare them to the ocean, but these eyes were electrifying, like lightning. His hair was short and well maintained, black like my own hair. Devishly handsome was an understatement; and the scar that ran across his cheek made him even more appetizing. A sudden urge ran throughout my body, my cheeks glowing red at the dirty thought.
I knew what this was.
He had to be my mate.
My lips stayed close at the revelation. My entire being is telling me that that man is my mate, but I could be wrong? I wouldn't want to embarrass myself further by claiming that an Alpha is my mate.
Holy shit.
An Alpha is my mate, but not any Alpha. That's the Cruel One. The one that never shows, and yet he showed today.
He leaned back into the chair, hands crossed behind his head, "I've heard that this is the best tracker in our country. Is this true?"
No, it's not true. I am. Thats what I wanted to say, but then the council would call me a liar, and I'm positive they'd throw me from the room because of my behavior today.
Elder Jonathan cleared his through after the moment of silence, "this...this is Mason Lorcan. He won against his daughter for the title of gamma."
"Daughter?" His eyes ran down the table until they landed on me.
"Y...Yes, Alpha of Rockwell Pack, tell him," it was obvious even Elder Jonathan was scared. I hope he pisses his pants.
My Alpha rose from his position, "Yes. She is one of the best,"
He hummed in acknowledgment.
He eyes then turned towards the council, "I need a tracker for my pack, the best actually," he chuckled confusing me. "I thought this would be a bit harder, taking a tracker from your pack. But it seems like my mate has no choice but to come with me," he flashed his fangs at me.
Perhaps I should have been scared at the idea of being taken from my family. The room was tense at his words, even a bit of fear as the Alpha next to me scooted the other way.
He had not asked me to leave with him, but I guess it didn't matter seeing as I would have agreed immediately.
I wanted to get away from my pack, specifically my father. If I were to leave I wouldn't have to see him stand beside the Alpha as our gamma. Besides, my mate was an Alpha, which meant I would be a Luna. My future title was higher and worth more than a simple gamma. And this time no one could try to fight me for my title, it was mine by fate.
Time seem to pass quickly as I was being led to an SUV. Beta Arius kept a small distance from me, careful not to touch me. It hurt my pride to think that he purposely avoided making any contact, was I that grotesque?
My eyes scanned my body quickly; My mother chose my clothing but I thought I still looked fine.
He opened the door motioning me to go inside. I held onto the handle roughly as I pulled myself inside. I was not ugly. Far from it actually. I crossed my arms over my chest, letting my anger stew. Maybe he was being professional? Yeah, that's it!
"Do you always look so angry," I jumped from my seat, hitting my head on the car roof.
"Geez, warn a girl next time," I said while rubbing my head.
He hummed as he sat back into his chair. His eyes closed as I looked towards him. My mate really was handsome. Hot, actually.
Though, a big part of me wanted to jump his bones, I need to think this out. My mate was known as the Cruel Alpha, and no one gets that type of reaction from the council like he did.
I had to be careful about this. I had to be careful about us.
