I back up slowly as a man walks towards me. My hair stands on edge and I hear my mother scream for my father. She runs towards me.

"Protect the coven" She calls scooping me into her arms.

I turn my head to see my father tackle the man as my mother carries me into the house. A shot rang out causing my ears to ring as we entered the house and ran into my newborn brother's room. She rushes, grabs him, and runs out the back door into the woods. She drops me gently on my feet as Kayden, my little brother starts to cry. Letting her soothe him I ran on foot following behind her. I see my neighbor and his son (who also happens to be one of my best friends) running towards us. Everything happening in a rush around us and without pausing she hands Kayden to Jackson (Cole's father) and leans down to me hugging me tightly to herself enveloping me in her arms as tears stream down my face. Confusion and fear started to take over as the shock that once numbed me faded away.

"Mama has to go help Daddy. Take care of Kayden, okay Lilith. We love you. We'll meet up again soon, okay baby."

She quickly turns away and runs towards our home. My best friend Cole pulls me and we start running. I glanced back but my mother was already gone. The sounds of gunshots ringing out around us.

It's funny how they started off as our guests and now they are our neighbors and close friends. Cole and his dad Jacksons family were hunted but we took them in. Just as we did others. He was two years older than me so he was faster and I struggled to keep up. Another gunshot rang out just then and I whimpered. I ran faster, almost tripping over tangles of branches. Soon my luck ran out though and I tripped just as we reached the clearing where the van and the rest of the coven were gathered. I hit the ground so hard it knocked the air out of me. My vision blurred as I saw Cole fighting his dad to get to me but his dad was stronger even with Kayden in his arms. Cole was pulled into the van just as I felt a hand on my back. I see Damien staring from the front seat reaching out over his father who was driving as if he could grab me. The last thing I saw was the van was driving off a few gunshots going off right above me as I was losing consciousness. They left me.
