After that conversation with Gun and Off, they were told to be extra careful and to stay close as much as possible. Yin was glad to know that they had two other people looking over their shoulders. What he didn’t account for however was the guardians tailing them at almost everywhere they went. The first few days were acceptable but as the days went by without anything from the shapeshifter, their guardians were starting to get antsy and were starting to take watching over them on a whole new level.
“Will you stop that?” Yin whispered for the nth time that day when Off glared at some poor student just passing through their table.
“Can’t, shapeshifter remember?” The elder said, proceeding to go back to watching literally every single person in their vicinity.
Yin sighed but continued to pick on his food, letting Off do as he pleased. He looked up when he heard the sound of a tray landing roughly on the surface of their table, only to see War glaring at his own guardian.
“Gun this is getting ridiculous,” War whines and then turns to Yin. “Please tell them this is ridiculous.”
“Believe me when I say that I’ve tried.” Yin answers, handing War a slice of cake. “Here, I think you need it.”
“Thanks.” War said, taking Yin’s spoon to help himself to the offered sweet but Yin took the plate away before he could get a bite. ”I thought that was for me.”
Yin laughed and flicked his forehead, which only resulted in more whining from War. “Proper meal first, dessert later.”
“What am I? Five?” War complains but Yin only raises an eyebrow at him and gestures to the food on his tray with his eyes. “Fine.”
“Look how cute they are.” Gun coos. “I would have set you up a long time ago but well, I still wanted to be able to sleep at night.”
Off snorts. “That did not work out.”
“As I was saying-” War diverts the topic. “This is getting ridiculous, Gun has showed up in all of my classes.”
“So?” Gun asked nonchalantly.
“We’re not from the same department.” War answered. “We don’t even have classes together.”
Yin consoled himself with the thought that at least Off only showed up once in a while, or at least those were the times that he could see him. War was being held at a closer supervision, since he seems to be who the skin thief actually wants.
“I can’t risk it. Last time I left you alone, that thing got to you and I found you on the rooftop in the rain with hand marks on your neck.”
That shut down War’s complaints fairly quickly. Although their guardians seem to be overreacting, they mean well and they both know that. Yin can’t even begin to think about what the couple had to go through for them and their safety
Yin shares a look with War and the smaller sighs. “Sorry about that. Just this whole thing-”
“Don’t worry about it.” Gun said with a smile before he smirked. “I’m just glad that Yin is here to calm you down. You’ve finally found your match.”
War looked away and snatched the plate of cake from an unaware Yin, eating a spoonful and sticking his tongue out when Yin caught him.
“Stubborn.”
War shrugs before pointing to his finished meal and talking with a mouthful of cake. “Don’t know what you’re talking about, I finished my food like you asked.”
“That you did.” Yin said with a chuckle, ruffling War’s head.
“My friend is whipped.” Off comments. “So whipped.”
