"I have some great news for you, my friend..." Camila said the moment that Shawn answered her call.
"Friend?"
"Sorry. I meant pre-boyfriend."
"That's better. So what's the great news?"
"Check your email!" she excitedly replied.
"Alright, alright. Gimme a sec." Camila waited impatiently for Shawn to get his laptop out and open up his email. "Oh! Are these the pictures of the place you were telling me about?"
"Yes! And listen, it's completely up to you but this place is adorable and totally your style. Very vintage-industrial. Are you looking at the pictures?"
"I am." He couldn't help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. "This place does look really cool..."
"Did you talk to your parents?"
"Not yet. I wanted to wait until I knew if this place was even worth pursuing," he explained. "I probably am going to talk to them now, though. These pictures look really good."
"The woman invited me over to look at it in person. I'm going over there tonight to check it out. I'll FaceTime you while I'm there, if you want?"
"Yeah, that'd be great. If you deem it worthy I'll talk to my parents about them loaning me some money," he said with a thoughtful sigh. "Can you imagine if I actually owned my own record store? That'd be like, a dream come true."
"You'd be really good at it, babe." They were both silent for a moment as they both realized the endearing term she had just accidentally used.
"What did you just call me?" he asked, his voice laced with amusement.
"Dave. I called you Dave."
"Yeah right!" he laughed. "You totally just called me babe! I heard it clear as day."
"Whatever..."
"Oh my god, I can practically hear you blushing through the phone."
"Shut up!" she laughed. "You didn't hear anything."
"For the record, I'm completely okay with you calling me whatever cutesy name you'd like."
"I'm sure you are," she huffed as she rolled her eyes. She knew he couldn't see her but that didn't stop her. "Anyway...have you talked to Brian recently?"
"No...why?"
"Oh, no reason." Keeping the fact that Bristol was pregnant a secret was killing her. She needed somebody else to know. She was notoriously horrible at secret-keeping.
"Speak of the devil," Shawn chuckled. "He's calling me right now. Talk to you later?"
"Sounds good!"
"Okay, have a good day...babe."
"Shut up!" she laughed before hanging up. She could practically see him smirking. He loved playing these little games with her. A small part of both of them wanted to just throw the whole 'pre-boyfriend and pre-girlfriend' thing they were doing out the window and just be together but deep down they both knew that probably wasn't the best idea in the long run.
Camila hoped to god that the reason Brian was calling Shawn was to tell him that Bristol and him were having a baby and about fifteen minutes later she got her answer. Shawn called her again and she immediately picked up the phone.
"So..."
"Do...you know?" he asked cautiously.
"Yes!" she squealed. "God, I've been waiting for them to tell you. It's been killing me to keep it a secret."
