Tw: Depressing themes, murder, suicide, religious aspects

Eyes followed the little girl as she walked across the classroom, heading to her seat. She could hear people whispering about her already.

"Look! The new girl!"

"The foreign girl!"

The teacher cleared her throat, slapping a yardstick on the dusty chalkboard. "Ahem! Today we have a new student with us from overseas. Her name is (L/N) (Y/N), and she is from the Americas."

More people started whispering about her. She blushed in embarrassment, sinking extremely low into her seat.

"America? Isn't everyone there fat?"

"Yeah, and stupid! She's probably stupid!"

The teacher unfortunately did not hear the rude remarks as she continued speaking.

"Please make (Y/N)-san feel comfortable here! Now let us resume with our lesson..." The teacher began talking about mathematics, which was boring to the little (Y/N). She doodled on the paper from the notebook that had been placed in front of her. Wait, who's notebook was that?

She blinked, then looked up. A boy was staring at her with big amber eyes and a small smile. He pointed to the open page on the notebook, which had writing on it.

Hi. My name is Yugi Amane. Nice to meet you. You're from America, right? Why did you come here?

(Y/N) then realized what was happening. She blushed, scratching over her doodles, then answered the question.

My mother moved here with me. I'm not entirely sure why but she says its adult stuff.

Hanako read then wrote back.

Oh. Do you think you'll like it here?

I don't know. I'll be alone here, that's for sure. Though it's not like I had any friends back home anyways.

Oh, sorry to hear that. Wanna be my friend?

(Y/N) looked up at Yugi Amane and blinked, a small smile dancing on her pale lips. She quietly giggled and gave him a thumbs up.

Both the children continued to write notes to one another for the rest of the day until they went home. They both went to their individual families, happy and smiling because of their newfound friendship.

A woman named (Mother's/Name) waited for her daughter to return from school. The woman smiled softly at the girl, ushering her to the couch. "How was your day at school today, hon?"

(Y/N) gave her a toothy grin and a thumbs up. "Great! I made a new friend!"

Suddenly, her mother's sweet smile wavered. She stood up from the leather couch. "Friends, huh? You aren't here for that, sweetheart. Focus on your education. Friendship is last."

The little girl's smile also wavered. Her (e/c) looked off to the side sadly. "B-But-"

Her mother lifted her hand up, scaring her daughter. (Y/N) shut herself up, knowing that if she were to defy her mommy she would get a brief smack to the face.
