Chapter 12: Crushes And Crushed.

Hunter POV

I checked my phone for a message from Lia.
But all I got was A message from Doug.
Ten missed calls I swear someone must be dead.

I called Doug back.
"Hunter get your ass over to Mary's," Doug said on the phone.
"Why what happened?" I said.

"We gotta control her," he said.
After that "bang' I heard a gunshot through the phone.
Kim gasped as she was standing right next to me.

Jacob just stood there.
I hung up.
"Kim stay here with Jacob," I said.

Kim looked disapproving.
I grabbed my keys and slipped on some jeans and my jacket.
Ran out the door.

Went to the parking garage and got on my bike.
And drove to Mary's.
On the way, There was a body on the ground with blood.

I stopped, Looking at the blood.
I got off my bike and walked up to the body.
It was face down on the sidewalk.

I lifted her face up.
O my god it's Lia.
I knew she had people on her tail, But not this close.

I put her head down.
Got back on my bike and drove some more.
I got to Mary's Doug was standing outside.

"She's shooting up the place in there. I'm scared she'll hurt herself," he said over the roaring bangs of bullets flying.
"Let me talk to her," I said.
"Be careful," he said.

I walked to the door and turned the handle.
Walked in.
Mary gasped and I think I scared her because she turned the gun on me.

"Who are you?!" She said.
God she didn't remember me did I really look that bad.
"Is my face that bad? Mar it's Hunter"I said.

She lowered the gun.
"Where's my daughter?!" She said.
"At my place" I said.

"Are you taking care of her?" She said.
"I took her v card but you wouldn't know that because you didn't want her back." I said.
"You bastard!" She said.

"She's really fond of me," I said.
"Then why ain't she here right now."
"By your fucking side" she said.

I just stood there in silence.
" Can you have Lia get me some more ice? " she said as she slid the gun across the floor.
"She's dead," I said, picking up the gun.

Tears swelled up in Mary's eyes.
Because Lia wasn't just her drug dealer she was her best friend.
I walked toward her and hugged her.

As I did she stole my gun from my hustler.
She pointed it to her head before I could stop her and shot herself, Crying.
Blood was everywhere and her body collapsed on the floor.

I grabbed my gun.
And prepared to tell Doug.

Kim POV

I sat down on the couch waiting for Hunter to get back.
God, I really missed my mom.
Even though she was drunk or high half the time.

I still love her.
Jacob grabbed some whiskey from the kitchen.
Poured me a glass.

Even though Hunter was ok.
I was still worried because where he was going I heard gunshots at.
Jacob kneeled at my feet while I sat sipping the whiskey he poured me.

Jacob looked concerned for me because I downed the whiskey in one gulp.
I wasn't just concerned for Hunter.
I was concerned about mom.

I was concerned about dad.
"Everything's going to be alright Kim," Jacob said.
He moved his hand closer to my feet and stroked them.

It tickled and it was a good distraction.
He began to rub, His hands were almost as strong as his fathers.
"Why are you doing this won't your father be mad?" I asked.

"I'm adopted Kim so no he won't be mad and I'm just trying to keep your mind off everything," he said.
He stood up and sat down next to me.

He kissed my cheek and then my neck and I gasped knowing it wasn't right. I loved Hunter.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Nothing ima go, Dad should be back soon." He said.
He walked out the door.

Doug POV

Hunter walked out of the house his shirt and jeans covered in blood.
"She killed herself. I'm sorry I couldn't stop it," he said.
My heart was crushed.
I grabbed a beer can off the ground and Hunter watched me crush it down to nothing.

Then I threw it and punched the outside wall.
Hunter pulled me back.
"Let's go Kim needs to know the truth." He said.

I nodded breathing hard and mad because I shouldn't have come here.
We got on our bikes and drove back to Hunter's apartment.
