"I can't believe your mom had a step sister," Kelsey said as she excitedly ran into Genesis' room. The trio had arrived at their mother's step sister's house, who preferred to be called Aunt Donna by the children, only five days before. The mansion she lived in stood on a hill inside of a gated community in Minnesota.
Aunt Donna, who had more money than a human needed, thought it would be a great idea to send the three of them to a fancy, private school. Despite the many complains from Genesis, she sat in her bed that morning wearing the ugly gray skirt and white button up with a tie that was suffocating her.
"You look like an idiot," Genesis snorted as she stood from her huge bed, standing in front of her even bigger mirror to check out how her signature two French braids looked. She saw Kelsey's face fall in the mirror, her bottom lip pouting slightly which made Gen sigh. "don't be such a softie, B- uh I mean, Kels."
She saw a small smile spread across the blonde's features, "it's weird calling each other by our new names, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess so," Gen said as she smiled to her through the mirror before turning around. "it's gonna be even more weird going to a private school after being in New York City's public school system since kindergarten."
"I know it's gonna be weird but this is good for us," Kelsey admitted as she placed a hand on Gen's shoulder. "we no longer need to watch our backs while walking down the hall or starve at lunch cause the food is literally fuckin' blue!"
Gen let out a laugh as she nodded, "plus we get to live in this tough ass mansion. Who knew that Aunt Donna would be a rich bitch."
The girls laughed together when a knock on the door caused them to look over. Kai opened the door slightly and poked his head in. His black hair gelled back, making Gen laugh harder than she was before.
"Jesus Christ, Kai! You look like Mikey Delanova," Genesis said which made Kelsey burst into a fit of laughter. Kai scoffed at the mention of his little sister's asshole of an ex-boyfriend. He came into the room just to flick Gen on the head, earning himself a punch in the gut.
"Aunt Donna wants to take first day pictures and Uncle Leland thought it would be a good idea to do my hair," Kai said with a sarcastic smile as he clutched the place where his sister's fist had just hit. Gen groaned again, hating the idea of having to take photos in the disgusting uniform.
"Let's go before I change my mind and drown myself in the pool," Genesis said as she grabbed the black schoolbag her aunt had bought her from the corner of her room, throwing it over her shoulder.
"Which one?" Kai asked with a smirk, making Gen roll her eyes. "it could be the one on the first floor? Oh! I think you should do it in the one out back. Much bigger!"
"Shut up, dickface," Gen said as she shoved past her brother, making sure to hit his shoulder while passing by.
"Dickface?" He muttered to himself, his brows furrowed in confusion. As he thought about his sister's interesting vocabulary, Kelsey hit him on the arm to tell him to start walking.
Genesis walked down the flight of stairs that took her to the first floor of the home. Alice, who was Aunt Donna's assistant but acting more like a maid, was at the bottom of the steps with three cups in her hand. Gen furrowed her brows as she was handed a cup.
"Here is your mocha latte," Alice said with a bright smile as Gen took the cup into her hand. She had mentioned this was her favorite type of coffee once over dinner and that's because she was forced to tell Alice by her uncle. How and why is she memorizing the new guest's coffee orders?
"And here is your caramel iced coffee," She said as she handed a cup to Kelsey who was standing behind gen with Kai, both of them wearing a confused look. "and since you don't drink coffee, I just made you hot chocolate."
