"I seriously can't believe you two signed up for hockey," Kai said through his laughter as the trio made their way toward the front entrance. Genesis punched him in the arm, rolling her eyes.
"No need to be bitter," Gen said with a smirk. "not everyone can make friends on the first day."
"Please," Kai scoffed. "I've made friends with the football guys and might just be going to their practice tomorrow."
"Football?" Kelsey asked wit raised brows, a look of amusement on her face. "never thought I'd hear that one."
"You used to make fun of jocks and now you are one," Gen laughed which made Kai groan in annoyance.
"We're starting over, right?" Kai asked with a shrug. "might as well start something new."
"Right," Gen said with a nod as her brother held the door open for her. She stepped outside into the bright sunlight, squinting her eyes slightly as she adjusted to the outside world. Sitting by one of the benches, she saw the three boys from earlier but this time they were surrounded by more people.
"Hey, Genesis! Kelsey!" They heard and they looked up to see Charlie waving them over. He was standing next to Adam and a girl with long brown hair braided down her back. Gen waved back with a smile as they made their way over to them.
"Nice to know that there is no sexism in hockey," Gen said sarcastically. "my names Genesis."
The brown haired girl smiled as she extended her arm, "Connie, it's so nice to finally have some more girls on the team."
"Who's this?" Adam asked as he pointed over toward Kai, who was standing off to the side awkwardly listening to the conversation. Gen motioned him over which only seemed to piss him off.
"This is my older brother Kai," Gen said with a smile as she dramatically gestured toward her older brother, making him roll his eyes. The three hockey players didn't pick up on his rude behavior and instantly introduced themselves.
During the introductions, they heard shouting. Not anything loud enough to spark a crowd but definitely loud enough for the ducks to here considering they were right near the source. Gen turned her head to see Luis talking with some blonde chick.
"Someone jealous?" Kelsey teased as she nudged Gen in the side, causing her to tear her eyes away from the fight scene beside them. She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Annoyed," She corrected Kelsey. "the bitch is too loud."
"Tell me about it," Connie said as she shook her head, her eyes never leaving the fight. "that's Luis' ex-girlfriend. Total whore."
Gen nodded her head slowly, "didn't take Luis to be the relationship kinda guy."
"He used to be," Adam piped in as he stood in their small circle. "Mindy tore his heart out and stomped on it more than a few times."
"She always comes back too," Connie said as she shook her head in disgust. "it's like she enjoys making his life a living hell."
"Say the word and I'll beat her face in," Gen replied as she watched Mindy shoved Luis in the chest before she stormed away. Luis sighed and turned away, walking back to the group. Gen instantly turned her head away, looking at Connie instead of the boy who was walking toward them.
"Well look who it is, our newest addition," Luis teased as he bumped into Gen's shoulder, smirking down at her. She furrowed her brows, wondering how he was just in a fight with his ex and could pretend like it didn't happen.
Gen was like that, her brother could be too. She just didn't think that anyone here in this school could relate to her or take up on any of her bad habits but Luis proved her wrong. Maybe he hid his emotions every single day just like she did? Maybe the two of them could actually be friends?
