“Do you think she’ll notice?” Danny asks looking at his twin brother Samuel with their mother’s purse in hand. Samuel mulls the question over in his head for a few seconds, knowing they don’t have long to take it. “It’s only twenty quid. Plus Sharon owes me some money so I’ll get it back before she notices it’s gone. Take this, buy the stuff and replace the money later. Simple right?” Samuel responds with a sly smirk on his face lifting the twenty pound note out and throwing the purse on to table where they found it. He quickly stuffs the note in his pocket as he hears his mother’s heels clicking towards the room. Their mother, Sian Healy, stands in the doorway releasing a heavy sigh while fixing her earring.

“You too ready to go?” she asks the boys grabbing her keys and purse off the table, “Danny fix your top button up, Sammy, do me a favour and grab my handbag from the kitchen.” She asks her son after examining their school uniforms. “Sure mum.” Samuel agrees exiting the room. “Danny when I drop you at school I expect you to stay at school. I have an important meeting and I don’t want to be interrupted by your headmaster yet again. Got it?” she says with a stern expression through the mirror as she applies red lipstick and flattens down a tuft of her shoulder length, straight black hair.

Danny and Samuel have a tendency to get into difficulties at school but it always seems to be Danny who gets in trouble for what they have done, much to his dislike. “Got it.” He mutters in agreement.

Sian seems to think that her and her boys are the best people in town. She thinks she is someone and that everyone else in Greyview should bow down to her and her sons. The funny thing is though is they still have the same struggles everyone else does, how to pay the bills, where the next meal comes from and how to save a bit of money here and there yet still she acts lie the queen bee.

Her sons on the other hand are more down to earth, up for having a laugh but sometimes at other people’s expense and not realising that some of the things they say can actually hurt other people. Samuel is on the school football (soccer) team whilst Danny hangs about the back of the changing room with whichever mate or girl he can find. Danny prefers casual… meetings… with girls whereas Samuel has been with his girlfriend since he was sixteen, both boys now seventeen.

When the two boys get to school, Greyview High, they make no hesitation in running round the back, meeting a familiar face on the way.

Stephen Dyer. School’s resident ‘Badass’. You need something? He can get. No one really know much about him other than you don’t want to get on the wrong side of him. Rumour has it he’s been expelled from three different school, his family had to keep moving about because they were forced out by the other families in the town. The last school he went to expelled him because he threatened the headmaster with a knife. Definitely a better friend than foe. “You got the stuff?” Samuel asks walking up to the skinny lad who throws the last of his cigarette to the ground.

“Depends. You got the money?” Stephen asks nodding his towards the twins. His thick accent loud in the air. Samuel hands Stephen the twenty pound note over waiting as Stephen stuffs the money in his trouser pocket and pulls out a small, clear, plastic bag, the contents bringing a smirk to the twins’ faces. Danny reaches out to take the bag from Stephen who quickly withdraws it. “Remember, if you get caught, you didn’t get it from me.” Danny nods in response meaning he’s allowed to take the weed and he quickly puts it in his inside blazer pocket. “Cheers mate.”

“What are you doing out here?” Mr Johnston shouts walking past the boys from the back exit of school. A short, plump man with a naive nature.

“Nothing Sir.” Danny smiles with a wave to the teacher.

“Get to registration. The bell will ring soon.” He instructs and the boys happily follow his words, Stephen walking in the opposite direction to the twins, “See you later lads, and have fun.” He says with a sly smirk.

Walking down hall toward the class room Danny goes to walk past the registration room to be stopped by his brother, “Where you going?” Samuel asks.

“Just have to meet someone.” Samuel asks without looking back at his brother before making his way down the hall, stepping into a classroom. A petite girl around the same age stands waiting, taping away on her phone and looking up with a smile when she sees Danny’s entrance.

“You took your time.” She says resting against one of the tables. “Sammy and I had to do something.” She grimaces at the sound of Samuel, “Please don’t mention him around me.”

Danny sighs, “He is my brother.” He says with a defeated look. “Yeah and that makes this even worse.” She adds.

“You can call all this off. I’d understand.” Danny adds looking at this girl hoping and praying she doesn’t want too, knowing his feelings run to deep. “The damage’s been done, plus I don’t think I could stop even if I wanted too. With him it’s sweet and safe. With you…” she says standing up and taking a few steps towards him, “It’s dangerous, hot and sexy.”

Danny smirks, “Well then Sharon… Shut up and kiss me.” She sneaks up to him wrapping her arms around his neck pressing her lips against his, the kiss become more heated and quickly so. Danny bites gently at her lip causing his brother’s girlfriend to gasp letting him take control and gain entrance.

“Where did you disappear off to earlier?” Samuel asks sitting down at the lunch table next to his brother and a pile of their friends.

“Just had something to do.” Danny replies vaguely. “All right then. Listen bro, can you wait to have the stuff later? It’s just Sharon’s coming round after school and I want to wait until after she leaves.” Samuel asks with a pleading look.

Danny grunts a sound of approval, displeased by the thought of Sharon and Samuel together. In the room he shares with Samuel.

“Thank you so much! I owe you mate!” Samuel beams, wrapping an arm around his brother. “Just don’t expect me to wait outside. I’ll watch T.V. or sommat.” Danny adds and Samuel nods understandingly.

Danny sat watching some trashy show trying desperately to drown out the giggles and moans coming from upstairs, repeatedly turning the volume up and rolling a couple of joints to preoccupy himself until he hears footsteps coming down the stairs. He grabs the joints stuffing them under the pillow as Sharon walks down the stairs to the front door buttoning up the last few button of her blouse.

“I think you’re forgetting something”, Samuel calls running down the stair in nothing but his boxers holding a pair of girl’s underwear in his hand flashing her a cheeky wink. She quickly grabs them, stuffing them into her pocket. “I’ll text you later.” She says giving him a quick peck before opening the door and leaving, not before shouting a quick, “Bye Danny!”

Samuel jumps on the chair next to Danny, not caring about the lack of clothing. They’ve seen a lot more of each other over the years of sharing a bedroom. “You roll some?” He asks and Danny nods taking them out from under the pillow. Danny takes one between his lips and sparks up after lifting the lighter of the coffee table.

“You could have been a bit more subtle.” Samuel laughs, lighting his own. “That T.V. was way louder than any noise we could have been making.” Samuel laughs blowing out a few puffs of smoke, “I love her you know. Could spend the rest of my life with her.” He adds proudly.

“So could I.” Danny whispers, barely audible. Quiet enough that Samuel doesn’t here.
