“I suggest the purple striped tank top with dark wash jean short shorts. White sandals and a purple headband over slightly wavy hair would look nice on you. If you want to go to the beach, wear a yellow strapless sundress with black flip-flops and a black bikini. Large yellow sunglasses and the same wavy hair would finish the look.” My mirror said looking over my body. On the magic glass my petite body showed up in the beach outfit.

“Can I see the tank top again?” I asked defeated at what to wear to my first day at Parlin.

“Remember, I’m not going to the beach, I’m going to the first day of school in two days. Its pretty fancy.” I bit my thumbnail and my mirror showed me a new outfit.

“A baggy razor-back black tank top with a built in necklace over white jean short shorts. White sunglasses and the same wavy hair as the style before.” I sighed.

“Ugh I really need a new mirror.” I muttered to myself.

“I need something a little fancy for a fourteen year old, not an eleven year old.”

“A white ruffled tank top with a black short flowy skirt and the same white sandals. Curled hair and a touch of eyeliner.” My mirror said.

“Ooh I like that. How much?” I gasped looking at the soft material.

    “Forty-five Mips and thirty-six Meeps.”

I entered the coins in the mirror and the clothes appeared out of thin air. I grabbed them and hung them in my closet.

“Gi! Do you want to go to the beach?” I asked slipping on a sundress and bikini. Gi trotted in as a cat and meowed “Yes.”

I slid off my old KitchenDuster 101 broomstick and took out my Fitting in With Humans spell book. I looked for a bike transformation charm.

“Bike, bike, bike, ah!” I mumbled to myself.

    “Broom of brown

    Please turn to gold

    You bear no wheels

Turn into a temporary bike mold!”

The broom turned into a dusty old bicycle.

Yess!

I used the handy bike lock and attached my bike/broomstick to the bike rack.

Gi followed me down the long old, crumbly wooden stairs that lead to the beach. As we descended from the stairs I saw a bunch of people with animals following them around.

Were they Faeries? I quickened my pace as I saw a teenage girl stroke a seagull on the head.

“Hi, I’m Brea. What’s your name?” I asked the girl when I came in speaking distance with her.

“I’m Pippa. Nice cat you got there. Is he your pet?” she asked, eyeing Gi. I looked down at her hand that was still stroking the seagull. She blushed and quickly jerked her hand away from what I thought was her Larka.

“He’s my Larka.” I said, knowing if she were human she would have no idea what I was talking about.

“Thank god you’re a Faerie. I would die if a human saw me petting a seagull’s head.” She let out a relieved sigh. I laughed.

    “Want to go swimming?”

We ran towards the water, screaming and giggling as out Larkas followed behind us.

I leaped into the warm Florida water and floated on my back. Pippa did the same. Our Larkas changed into dolphins and splashed giddily in the sea beside us.

As the sun grew lower in the sky Pippa and I lay on the warm sand talking about our lives. We were both going to Parlin, which I was very happy about.

Maybe I could have a friend.

Pippa had to leave at some point, so I left as well, unlocking my broomstick and not even bothering to turn it back into one. As a hawk, Gi flew beside me pedaling the golden bike.

“AHHHHHHH!” I yelled as I woke up on a Tuesday morning.

Parlin Academy here I come!

I dashed down the stairs and grabbed all the stuff I needed. I packed a few materials for my potions and lifted my over stuffed suitcases. Gi trotted down the stairs as a cheetah, his natural form, and licked my leg.

“Gi! I can’t believe were actually going to Parlin today!” I squealed, picking up Gi in a tight hug. Gi purred and I set him down gently. We were getting a ride from Pippa’s unicorn carriage. We were going to Parlin together.

I opened the door to my small cottage and sighed.

What if I turned out like my mother?

I shook away the thought and bit my thumbnail. I might have never seen my home again. I sighed and started walking down the street towards the candy shop.

“Brea! You’re not working today!” my boss said nervously as he saw me enter the small candy filled room.

“I know.” I sighed. Why was everyone so scared of me?

“I’m going to training today and I won’t be at work for a while.” I gave him a small smile.

“Okay. Have fun!” he said as I trotted out the door with Gi as a beetle on my shoulder.

“Gi, you know I hate bugs! Please change into a mouse or something.” Gi did as I said and I smiled. “Thanks Gi.”

I waited out in the warm heat of May and waited for Pippa’s carriage to show up. I closed my eyes and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

*******************************************

I was lurched awake as I heard the unicorns gallop up to my cottage.

“Come on in!” Pippa said, helping me carry my bags to the carriage.

“Thanks.” I hopped into the small cramped room and placed my carry on bag on my lap. I relaxed as Pippa jabbered on about how she was going to decorate her dorm and what the classes would be like. I gazed out the window past the beautiful landscapes and pretty flowers as we made our way towards the amazingly large beach mansion.
