"Wash her up in the slave bathrooms, get her prepared. Bring her and food to my chambers. Have guards with you. Any of you lay an eye on her.. I'll carve them out and send them to your children." Lucian was glad to be back home. This was a long war. All those lives taken.. and for what? For his fathers blind power.
"Bring hot water to my chambers too." He told the slave and he hurried away.
"Well, I love you all and I'd die for you but 5 years of seeing your ugly mugs is enough for me. I'm finally going to drink wine and sleep in a soft bed!" Lucian said to his closest friends. He's own generals. Before he went out into this war, people feared him too much not to fight along his side but in the five years at war, he earned their respect. Furthermore he proved that their fear was right, but surely they were glad to be on his side.
"Ohhh, just admit you're going to fondle around with your new wife! Now that is what I call an entrance! For a second I thought the king turned purple." Gren hung his arm around Lucian's neck and hushed his voice when he mentioned the king.
"You realise we are back at the castle? I'm going bed." The prince shook Gren's arm off and pointed at his crown.
"Yes, Your Highness!"all four of them saluted and then burst out with laughter. Lucian waved at them and headed to his chambers.
He was in the bath when a slave came in and told him that his wife is ready.
"Bring chains and chain her to one side of the bed." He instructed and waved him off.
"Yes, Sire." The slave left the bath chamber and ordered another to get the chains. He heard the girls protests as he was getting ready, taking his time.
When she was ready, he walked into the bedroom area and waved everyone out.
"Your Majesty, she's a wildling. I insist to stay fo..." a guard couldn't finish his sentence. The prince backhanded him with a great force that has taken the guard aback and he fell to the ground.
"You defy your prince?" Lucian growled at him.
"Your fathers orders, Sire." The guard pushed away, explaining.
"This is MY wife. Tell my father that I know exactly how to handle a woman...
Get out." Lucian insisted and turned to Maze. Nearly going breathless at the sight he saw.
"Yes, Sire." The guard swiftly got up, bowed and left. Leaving Maze alone with the man that killed everyone she ever knew. Burned her home to the ground. Took her like she was nothing.
Fear run through Maze's veins. She started crying and struggling out of the steal cuffs. She looked up at the man in front of her. Now wearing a black, silk robe. Open, showing silky trousers and his chest showing slightly. Hair shading his body, making him look even more manly. Dangerous. The way he was slowly scanning her as she struggled. He took a slow step towards her and saw the fear in her eyes. It was absolutely understandable, but it's the way it's been for thousands of years.
He stopped and focused his, now, dark eyes on her. "Are you hungry? You must be.." he got no answer, but he still walked away to the table laid out with all kinds of delicious foods, fit for royalty. He grabbed a silver platter and put food on it.
Maze studied every of his moves and looked for anything she can use to get out of this situation.
"I must disappoint you. You're not getting out of those." She jumped. He poured wine and turned around. The prince brought the food and cup of wine over. She didn't dare move.
"Drink." He offered her the cup.
No reaction.
"Suit yourself." Lucian shrugged and drank a sip of the wine. He raised the cup with delight. "Best wine in all the possible lands.. you will like it. I missed the food too." He supported himself on his elbow in front of Maze and grabbed a piece of roasted meat, waved it in front of her and put it in his mouth.
Maze was starving but she wasn't going to give in. She kept looking at him. Every move of his body made her tense even more.
He suddenly noticed it and made his movements smoother and more liquid.
He sat up and put the cup of wine down on the floor. "If your planning to kill me, fine, but you'll need your strength for that. Eat." He slid the plate closer to her. "You must pardon my manners. I've been at war for five years with men that often resembled worst beasts instead of men..." he trailed off.
"I only see one beast, here." Maze croaked out, choking on her words as her throat was dry.
Lucian quickly grabbed the wine and passed the cup to her. She finally took it from him and started drinking. The cool liquid, burning through her scarred throat. It hurt but this was the first drink she had apart from the muddy water they gave her and other prisoners.
"Whoa, slow down. You'll pass out in no time." Lucian grabbed the cup from her and put it on the side again. Maze's stomach made a horrifying noise and she started feeling the nagging hunger, twisting her insides. He burst out in laughter and for the first time, he didn't look scary. He watched her with amusement as she slowly reached for the plate. His stare made her uncomfortable, but her hunger was winning this fight. The prince was right, she needs her strength if she's to kill him. The sweet taste of food made her let out a moan she did not mean to leat out. The Prince kept staring. His blue eyes, empty.
"You'll sleep in this bed, don't try to run, there really is nowhere to run to. You'll just hurt yourself... ohh and tomorrow is our wedding. If you behave, I won't have to chain you." The Prince got up and left her in the chamber with the information.
She listened for any sounds and his footsteps disappeared.
Immediately she tried to get out of the chains but there was no way. The bed seemed to be reinforced with iron and the chains looped through one of the rings on the side. She slowed down and hunger came back tenfold. She launched herself onto the food the Prince dishes up for them.
She needed her strength.
