Neil was just about to throw his biology textbook across the room when there was a short knock at his door. He closed the book with a loud smack, grateful for the distraction,

"It's open," He shouted across the room.

As the door opened, he leaned back in his chair, fiddling with a pencil.

Andrew leaned into the room,

"We're leaving, you've got five minutes," and promptly closed the door, leaving Neil confused.

Neil got up, pulling on a hoodie, and switching his basketball shorts for some sweatpants. He grabbed his keys and turned the lights off on his way out. Sticking his head into the cousins' room, he quietly walked back out and downstairs when he didn't see Andrew.

Andrew was already waiting in the car for him when he got there. Neil opened the passenger side door, resting his hand atop it and standing with his head in the car,

"Where are we going?"

Andrew gave him a blank stare before sighing,

"Don't be difficult."

Neil got in and shut the door without pushing it further.

"Put your seatbelt on."

He obeyed. When Andrew pulled the car out of the parking lot Neil said,

"What about yours?"

Andrew glanced briefly towards him, readjusting the rearview mirror,

"I'm not concerned about my safety."

Neil smirked, looking out his window.

"Stop it."

"Stop what?"

"Doing that thing with your mouth."

Neil scoffed,

"Smiling? You said you care about me."

"No, I did not. I just think it would be a shame if I had to spend my money on a funeral for you."

Neil smiled at him, this time intentionally. When Andrew glared at him he eased off the subject,

"Where are you taking me?"

"You'll see."

With that, they pulled to the side of the road near a patch of trees. Andrew got out with Neil close behind him. He continued walking past the trees, locking the car.

After a few minutes of walking down a path that seemed to materialize out of thin air, they came to an open clearing surrounded by trees. A single tree sat in the middle of the clearing scattered with wildflowers and a stream trailed its way across the edge where the grass met undergrowth and bushes. Andrew kept walking to the tree and Neil noticed a blanket was spread out beneath its canopy,

"Why are we here?"

"Sometimes I come here to smoke."

"Well...we're here now...and you aren't smoking."

"You said you dont like my addictions."

Neil smiled at that, following Andrew and taking a place beside him when he sat down.

Neil looked to him, trying not to stare. The leaves of the tree above them swayed with the soft breeze, the light reflecting off of them and playing on Andrew's features. Neil shifted when Andrew let his gaze fall on him. He asked again,

"Why are we here?"

Andrew was silent a moment before closing his eyes and leaning his head back, putting all his wait on his hands,

"I thought you'd like it. It's... peaceful."

A smile played across Neil's lips and he couldn't help but keep his eyes fixed on the boy.

"Stop that."

Neil averted his eyes when he realized Andrew was watching him back.

Andrew leaned over the blanket, picking a white and yellow flower from the grass. He twirled it between his thumb and forefinger before turning to Neil,

"Come here."

"Hm?"

"Come here,"

He brushed a stray lock of Neil's hair back and tucked it behind his ear with the flower to hold it in place. A hint of a smile quirked his lips upwards before the same bored expression replaced it. He let his fingertips fall to Neil's cheek, cupping his face in his palm,

"Yes or no?"

"It's always yes with you."

"Don't be stupid. Yes or no?"

Neil paused for a moment, then decided,

"Yes."

Andrew leaned in, leaving space for Neil to back up. Neil closed the gap between them, leaning into the kiss and pressing forwards against Andrew. It was just them against the world, nothing between them, not even space. Neil pulled back, a toothy grin spread wide across his face. Andrew glared at him and sat up, trying to hide the flush in his cheeks,

"Three hundred percent."
