We were playing on the swings, me screaming higher in a fit of giggles and him pushing the swing higher laughing at my squeals of joy.
Him daring me to jump off the swing when at its highest, me protesting because I asked him to push me too high. Next thing I know he's in front of me, "I'll catch you!" He screamed looking at me with a daring grin. "It's too high!" I screamed back. "Do you trust me?" He asked out of the blue with a serious expression, "yes?" I answered not sure where this was going. "Then jump!" He grinned widely.
And I stared at him for a few seconds debating whether I should or not, asking myself 'will he really catch me?' "YES I WILL!" He screamed with a knowing smirk as if he could read my thoughts.
And with that I closed my eyes and jumped off the swing mid air screaming as I felt myself falling until I landed in a pair of arms that held me tightly to their body.
He caught me. "You caught me." I said as I opened my eyes.
I looked up at my best friends dark chocolate eyes, his dark brown hair in short waves around his face. His smile wide as he looked back down at me, "I said I would!" And with that he dropped me on the grass, looking down at me with amusement written all over his face as he tried not to laugh at my angry face.
"OWW! That hurt!" I screamed rubbing my now sore butt, "you're gonna get it!" I screamed chasing him around the playground while he laughed at me.
I doubled over panting from exhaustion, him standing beside me just as out of breath. He poked my cheek telling me I look funny when I'm mad at him. I swatted his hand away and slapped his arm screaming, "AM NOT!". He just laughed at me pulling the purple ribbon holding my pigtails up that matched my purple, frilly top with my black button shorts and black sandles, letting the bow it was tied into lose and hang around the side of my face. "My mommy's gonna be mad at you for doing that Liam!" I gasped. "IS NOT!" He argued back. "IS TOO!" I screamed running to the tennis courts laughing to find my mother. Liam trailing not too far behind me. When my mother saw me, she walked over asking if we wanted anything. We shook our heads yes and asked for something to drink. My mother asked what happened to my bow noticing it was undone and I told her Liam undid it.
She just laughed and redid the bow telling him to at least pull both bows next time so it doesn't look weird. He agreed and gave me a satisfied smirk as I stuck my tongue out as a reply.
My mother laughed at us saying, "so young and cute together, can't believe how big you two have gotten. Seems like yesterday you were fighting over each others bottles and now you're 8 Liam and my baby's 5. You grow up too fast." She looked off into the distance, me and Liam exchanging looks concluding that my mother is weird and finished our juice to go play some more.
